Ace.
Edmund goes early with the power-up button.
30-0 before the German really messes up an approach to the net.
Another ace seals the game for the Brit.
*Edmund 0-0 Kohlschreiber
Edmund to serve.

Not quite packed to the rafters like Wembley 66 or Munich 2001.
I'd estimate about two-thirds of the Brits who were loudly supporting the side in their group matches are here today.
That was always going to be a problem, one which Andy Murray highlighted last week.
How many fans are going to be able to stay out here in Madrid all week in the hope they go all the way? And how many would fly out for the knockout stage if and when Britain progressed?
Very few on this evidence. The British contingent that are here, however, are trying their best to make a decent noise.

Underneath the main court at the Caja Magica (Magic Box to us Brits), the concourses are splashed with red and yellow as the Spanish fans wander around before their quarter-final against Argentina.
That means Britons are quite hard to spot - apart from Pam Flatman, husband Wayne and their friend Mac Boreham, who have travelled over from Norfolk for the whole week.
No Andy Murray then. Worried?
"It's doesn't matter. We're not surprised. We can save him for the semi-final," says Pam.
That's the spirit. Oh, wait...
"We can beat Germany but we'll never get past Spain in the semi-finals will we? Unless Nadal falls over..." she adds.
Mac is less convinced about a (Andy) Murrayless Team GB today...
"I think we're in trouble. Evans hasn't really done it has he?"
Thumbs up or thumbs down?
Results after the first set of Edmund v Kohlschreiber.

It was a surprise (that Andy Murray isn't playing). I thought we'd see him out here. I hadn't noticed he'd put on a few kilos, he's not exactly bursting out of his shirt! He might have come in rusty but with a match and win under his belt the improvement curve could be steep.
I'm not counting Andy Murray out in the doubles. We know Andy and Jamie have had a lot of success in this competition so I'm not ruling it out.

All of the Madrid Metro stations on Line 3 have been redecorated to tell the locals what is happening down the track at the Caja Magica.
Kyle Edmund might not have made the cut with the transport bosses but, most importantly, he has with Leon Smith...
So there are two quarter-final matches going on at the same time.
Here are the match-ups:

Well, then. Leon Smith told BBC Sport yesterday it may well be one of the hardest decisions of his reign as Great Britain Davis Cup captain whether to recall Andy Murray.
And he's decided to stick with Kyle Edmund and Dan Evans as his singles players.
Why? That will clearly be put to Smith after the tie, but for the moment we don't know.
Murray is not in peak condition, shown by his sluggish performance in the opener against the Dutch, is he lacking that much fitness? Has that elbow problem he suffered in Asia flamed up again?
That means Edmund takes on Philipp Kohlschreiber and Evans meets Jan-Lennard Struff.

GB v Germany (16:30 GMT)
Was this meant to be?
Are we going to see Andy Murray held aloft on Sunday like Daniel LaRusso was at the end of the original Karate Kid?
Will Leon Smith nod in approval from sidelines like Mr Miyaga?
Will they play triumphant brass-based end-credits music?
First Great Britain must navigate past Germany in their quarter-final... and there is some surprising team news...
