Former British number one on BBC Two

Mannarino really put in a fantastic performance and then so unfortunate to see that slip and the knee injury.

We thought it was going to be an amazing birthday present to come out on top of Federer at Wimbledon.

It's really not the finish we hoped for.

  3. Pressure off Gauffpublished at 18:50 British Summer Time 29 June 2021

    Jo Durie
Former British number one on BBC TV

Gauff looks so at home on a big court. Two years ago she just coped with everything.

Maybe the lockdown etc has taken the pressure off and she's had time to develop and mature, because it was all coming at her in a rush.

So skillful, so good... and so young.

  4. Game and fourth set - Federerpublished at 18:49 British Summer Time 29 June 2021

    Federer 6-4 6-7 (3-7) 3-6 6-2 Mannarino

Corrr. For a man struggling that's a sensational backhand winner. Two set points to go. And Federer takes it on the next. It's two sets a piece.

Mannarino probably just wants to get to the end of this set - Federer has three set points.

It's advantage Coco Gauff in the first set. She finally breaks Fran Jones' serve after four failed attempts.

It's easy hold next and that's the first set to the American.

Poor Adrian Mannarino. He looks close to tears. The Wimbledon crowd try to gee him up after the first double fault, somehow he manages a smile after the second.

Only the stone hearted can't feel for the guy.

    Federer 6-4 6-7 (3-7) 3-6 5-2 Mannarino*

Adrian Mannarino isn't happy, he's still trying to walk off that knee injury, but looks to be struggling. The Frenchman thinks he's served double fault but hasn't and has to wander back to the other side of the baseline. He then does knock down a double, he's trying to laugh but obviously hurting.

This crowd must be loving this. Medvedev has hit a few shots you don't expect to see players hitting.

Lovely sweeping forehand winner from Roger Federer with Adrian Mannarino still a little tentative at the other end, understandably. The Swiss holds.

Huge roar of support as Adrian Mannarino jogs back to the baseline to resume. The Frenchman doesn't look entirely comfortable to me, but let's hope he can get through to the end and do no further damage.

Oh no, awful to see this. Adrian Mannarino looks in big trouble after going down and holding his knee. A hush on Centre Court, with Federer going over to see how his opponent is. Fingers crossed he can continue.
