    *Djokovic 6-3 3-4 Fucsovics

Novak Djokovic is dishing out more slices than a village bakery but Marton Fucsovics gobbles them up with a tasty forehand. Another spins off the racquet of the Serb and is served up to perfection, leaving his Hungarian opponent thrashing in vain. But Fucsovics responds with an ace, and a big hold.

  2. Shapovalov holdspublished at 14:54 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    *Khachanov 4-6 6-3 3-4 Shapovalov

Time for Shapovalov to feel the heat a bit.

The Canadian's fourth double fault gives Khachanov 0-30, but the 10th seed rescues the situation in style with a deft touch at the net for 30-30.

A whipped forehand into the back corner makes it four points in a row.

  3. Game and second set - Salisbury/Rampublished at 14:53 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    Salisbury/Ram 6-3 6-4 Cabal/Farah

It's all going swimmingly so far for Briton Joe Salisbury and doubles partner Rajeev Ram of the United States after they wrap up the second set against Colombian third seeds Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah on serve.

Salisbury is mean to be in mixed doubles action with Harriet Dart later so he could do with getting this tie wrapped up in three sets so he can put his feet up.

    Djokovic 6-3 3-3 Fucsovics*

Marton Fucsovics looks a different player. He leaps high to meet an attempted Novak Djokovic lob with an overhead winner, but the poker-faced Djokovic cranks through the gears before double faulting. He gets over the line with a snappy forehand.

    Khachanov 4-6 6-3 3-3 Shapovalov*

    Martina Navratilova
Nine-time Wimbledon singles champion on BBC TV

Shapovalov has definitely picked it up this year. He's playing very solid tennis.

He has more bite and weight on his shots, I think he's a lot more confident with his shot seletion and he has impoved his transition - in getting up to the net.

He still can hit the ball hard, but it was all or nothing before.

  6. Khachanov holdspublished at 14:50 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    Khachanov 4-6 6-3 3-3 Shapovalov*

Khachanov, slightly under threat at 15-30, is let off the hook by Shapovalov who skews wide of the mark.

Khachanov wakes up, and moves clear to tie the set at 3-3.

"It's coming home," sing a group of lads close to the media seats.

Presume they mean 'it' is the Wimbledon men's title and 'home' is Serbia?

  8. Postpublished at 14:47 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    *Djokovic 6-3 2-3 Fucsovics

Good stuff from Marton Fucsovics, whistling his way through a love hold to immediately put the pressure back on the world number one.

  9. Shapovalov holdspublished at 14:46 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    *Khachanov 4-6 6-3 2-3 Shapovalov

Neither player is doing much wrong here, though Shapovalov takes a hold to love courtesy of Khachanov framing a shot into the atmosphere.

    Djokovic 6-3 2-2 Fucsovics*

Lovely. Novak Djokovic opens up his body and steams down a forehand winner to hold, but he's being made to work for it by Marton Fucsovics now.

  11. Postpublished at 14:44 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    *Djokovic 6-3 1-2 Fucsovics

A little more urgency in Novak Djokovic's play as he hurries to 30-0, before dicing a slice long.

Marton Fucsovics slips on the baseline and it presents Djokovic a straightforward forehand chance, but he hooks it into the tape. Eighteen unforced errors from the top seed today.

And some snappy Fucsovics groundstrokes takes this to deuce.

  12. Khachanov holdspublished at 14:43 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    Khachanov 4-6 6-3 2-2 Shapovalov*

Some wonderful hitting from both players. This is a quality battle.

Khachanov comes out on top in a slice duel at 40-15 to hold and shift the pressure back on Shapovalov.

  13. Postpublished at 14:41 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    * Djokovic 6-3 1-2 Fucsovics

    Boris Becker
Three-time Wimbledon champion on BBC TV

I think Fucsovics for the first five games was playing the name, not the player.

Now he is playing who is on the opposite side of the net, and now we have a better tennis match.

Nothing to separate Khachanov and Shapovalov in the third set so far.

This is the moment the Russian levelled things up by taking the second.

  15. Shapovalov holdspublished at 14:39 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    *Khachanov 4-6 6-3 1-2 Shapovalov

Denis Shapovalov cruises to 40-0 on his serve but a really nicely worked point by Khachanov has his opponent scampering around the court, before the Russian puts him out of his misery.

A ninth ace for Shapovalov confirms the game. 2-1.

  16. Postpublished at 14:39 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    *Djokovic 6-3 1-2 Fucsovics

Lovely volleyed winner from Novak Djokovic at the net, seeing the opportunity and chasing it down. His attempt at a drop shot on the next sits up though, and Marton Fucsovics meets it with a whipped forehand winner.

The Hungarian whips down an ace to hold.

Nothing tickles the Wimbledon fans more than a popping champagne bottle breaching the peace.

Fucsovics has to pause before serving after he hears cork hit tin roof.

  18. Khachanov holdspublished at 14:37 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    Khachanov 4-6 6-3 1-1 Shapovalov*

Shapovalov keeps up the chase on the Khachanov serve, edging to 30-15 and then 40-30, but another hefty forehand from the Russian seals his first hold of the set.

  19. Postpublished at 14:35 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    Djokovic 6-3 1-1 Fucsovics*

A little bit of pressure on Novak Djokovic's serve now, too... not quite in full flow yet. He recovers to 30-30 and whips down a feisty serve to edge ahead before holding to get on the board in the second set.

  20. Shapovalov holdspublished at 14:33 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    *Khachanov 4-6 6-3 0-1 Shapovalov

So, in which direction will this match swing next on Court One?

Denis Shapovalov serves first in the third set, and begins by surrendering just the one point in his opening game.
