    Djokovic 1-0 Fucsovics*

Novak Djokovic gets this one under way but there's an early glimpse for Marton Fucsovics as he gets the better of an exchange, with Djokovic finding the net for 15-30.

The top seed quickly extinguishes that hope to come through and hold.

Wimbledon is famously a football-free zone. Yet, I've spotted a few England shirts in the stands. One lad has gone for the full Jack Grealish - highlights, undercut and headband.

He'll be sat on the bench too when the action starts...

    *Khachanov 4-4 Shapovalov

Now, can the Canadian get stuck in to the Khachanov serve?

Shapovalov slips at the back of the court as the Russian takes charge, floating in to volley a winner at the net for 30-15.

    *Khachanov 4-4 Shapovalov

A much better service game from Denis Shapovalov, who fires a serve out wide at 40-15 for a stress-free hold this time around.

The last time these two played at a Grand Slam came in sweltering conditions in New York.

Back at the 2018 US Open, Djokovic particularly struggled in the heat and humidity, asking for a sick bucket at one stage if I remember correctly.

No chance of the ice towels today.

  6. Khachanov holdspublished at 13:36 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    Khachanov 4-3 Shapovalov*

A delicate touch from Khachanov, whose drop shot takes him on his way to 40-15.

Shapovalov moves to within striking distance as he looks to apply some pressure after being taken the distance on his last service game, but the Canadian goes long and he's yet to really trouble the Russian yet.

    Djokovic v Fucsovics

Right, over on Centre Court the second quarter-final of the day is also about to begin, as top seed Novak Djokovic takes on Marton Fucsovics, the only unseeded player left in the draw.

Actors Eddie Redmayne and James Norton are in the Royal Box today, as is film director Sir Sam Mendes and broadcasters Sir Trevor McDonald and Andrew Marr.

What a day to come. Djokovic AND Federer, back-to-back. Dreamy.

    * Khachnov 3-3 Shapovalov

    Martina Navratilova

Despite the doubles and the four break points, this may give him some confidence IF Shapovalov can keep the serve under control.

  10. Salisbury & Ram start wellpublished at 13:33 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    Salisbury/Ram 2-1 Cabal/Farah*

Briton Joe Salisbury and American partner Rajeev Ram have made an encouraging start to their men's doubles quarter-final in front of a sparse crowd on court two.

The sixth seeds are playing Colombian pair Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah and have won both their service games confidently.

Cabal and Farah, seeded third, have shown a few jitters and were forced to deuce in their opening service game before nervy hold.

  11. Shapovalov holdspublished at 13:32 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    *Khachanov 3-3 Shapovalov

It's three double faults in this game now from Shapovalov, but he keeps his cool to deny Khachanov a fourth break point.

Can he get himself over the line now?

Khachanov drifts long and the Canadian survives!

The stage is set, my friends.

Warm applause as the ball kids and line judges file out. That must make you feel 10-feet tall.

Need a couple more blokes now - one from Belgrade and another from the place just further up the Danube - and then we will be away.

    Khachanov 3-2 Shapovalov*

Shapovalov saves break point number one with a cross-court forehand winner, closes out the second and then a big, big serve at a crucial moment takes the game to deuce.

Well played by the 22-year-old. But the danger hasn't passed just yet...

The problem with grass is they don't play enough on it, and obviously no play on grass last year, but Khachanov seems to be coming into his own here.

  15. Break points Khachanovpublished at 13:27 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    Khachanov 3-2 Shapovalov*

    Trouble for Shapovalov.

    Khachanov has three break points.

  16. Postpublished at 13:26 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    Khachanov 3-2 Shapovalov*

A far from ideal start by Shapovalov, who registers the first double fault of the match for 0-15.

Oh dear oh dear! Back-to-back double faults open the door for Khachanov...

  17. Khachanov holdspublished at 13:24 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    Khachanov 3-2 Shapovalov*

Khachanov, bouncing on his toes, sets himself for a huge forehand from the baseline.

And another takes him to 40-15.

No problems once again on serve! Khachanov holds for 3-2.

  18. Shapovalov holdspublished at 13:22 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    *Khachanov 2-2 Shapovalov

That's an impressive hold to love from Shapovalov.

The 10th seed seals the game with a drop shot.

  19. Postpublished at 13:21 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    Khachanov 2-1 Shapovalov*

Shapovalov gets things started with his second ace of the contest.

Oh very nice, make that three!

A belting, clean forehand then sees Khachanov net for 40-0.

A murmur of joy as the sun - yes, the sun - makes an impromptu appearance on Centre Court.

Very windy out there. My ball toss would be all over the place.

Sure Novak Djokovic and Marton Fucsovics will have fewer problems.
