  1. Khachanov holdspublished at 13:18 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    Khachanov 2-1 Shapovalov*

Shapovalov is no match for a big second serve from Khachanov, who cruises to another 40-0 advantage on serve.

The Russian completely misjudges a ball at the baseline to the amusement of the crowd, but it's game over when Shapovalov goes long next.

  2. Shapovalov holdspublished at 13:16 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    *Khachanov 1-1 Shapovalov

After a passive opening game, Shapovalov makes his own straightforward hold as Khachanov goes long when attempting to whip a forehand past the Canadian at the net.

  3. Postpublished at 13:14 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    Khachanov 1-0 Shapovalov*

Shapovalov concedes the first point on his serve as he drifts a shot into the net, but a timely ace gets him up and running before Khachanov hits into the tramlines. 30-15.

  4. Khachanov holdspublished at 13:11 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    Khachanov 1-0 Shapovalov*

A rusty start from Denis Shapovalov.

A couple of mistakes hands Karen Khachanov 40-0 in his opening service game, but a classy one-handed backhand gets the Canadian on the board.

He nets on the next point and it's a comfortable first hold for the Russian.

Remember this iconic old place - which holds almost 15,000 when it is packed to the rafters - is allowed a 100% crowd.

  7. Shapovalov: 'Fastest hand in the West'published at 13:06 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    Boris Becker
Three-time Wimbledon champion on BBC TV

Shapovalov has the fastest hand in the West. When he has this whip on his serve, that ball is not coming back.

I always thought he was talented but I never thought he was mature enough.

We shouldn't forget he's only 22 years old. His future is bright.

  16. (Don't) blame it on the weathermanpublished at 12:53 British Summer Time 7 July 2021

    Jonathan Jurejko
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

Yesterday, with a grim weather forecast ahead, it felt as though the roof would be shut on both Centre Court and Court One today.

Not yet, though. While there is cloud overhead at the All England Club, it has not led to any rain this morning.

So the roof stays open - for now.

Now, I'm no Tomasz Schafernaker. But if I had to make a prediction, it'd be that there will be some indoor tennis over the course of this afternoon.
