Wimbledon runner-up Matteo Berrettini says: "It's just been unbelievable feelings, maybe too many to handle. For sure, he was better than me. Well done to him, he is writing the history of the sport and he deserves all the credit.

"I'm really happy with the final and hopefully it will not be my last one here or my last one in a slam so honoured to be here and it's been a really great run for two weeks.

"Also with [winning] Queen's, I could not ask for more, well, maybe, a bit more.

"Congratulations to Novak's team, they are doing something unbelievably every slam, every tournament."

    Djokovic 6-7 (4-7) 6-4 6-4 6-3 Berrettini

Here's some more from Novak Djokovic, who says: "As a seven-year-old I was constructing a trophy with improvised materials that I could find in my room so to come here and for this, it is amazing."

Asked how he feels after equalling the 20 Grand Slams won by Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer, Djokovic responds and says: "It means none of us three will stop.

"I have to make a great tribute to Rafa and Roger, they are legends of our sport and the two most important players I ever faced in my career.

"They are the reason why I am where I am today. They showed me what I needed to do to get stronger, physically, tactically and mentally. Over the last 10 years it has been an incredible journey that's not stopping here."

On the potential of winning all the Grand Slams in 2021, Djokovic adds: "I could definitely envisage that happening and I hope I will give it a shot. I'm in great form and played well and having my best form at Grand Slams is my number one priority."

  6. 'The leader of the conversation'published at 18:04 British Summer Time 11 July 2021

    Tim Henman
Former British number one on BBC TV

Djokovic had an incredible tournament, he came in as a huge favourite and he put in an absolute masterclass in the two weeks. No doubt the best player won this tournament.

He talks about his hunger, desire and motivation but there is no doubt he want to be the leader of that conversation when it comes to numbers of grand slams.

The calendar grand slam is absolute on the cards and is one of the greatest achievements in the sport. After the challenges of 2020 to have the players back in the stadium - it's a great way to finish.
