    • Men's world number one Novak Djokovic continued his pursuit of a calendar Grand Slam as he reached the fourth round with victory over Kei Nishikori in four sets.
    • Elsewhere, Bianca Andreescu needed just 67 minutes to sweep aside lucky loser Greet Minnen and reach the fourth round.
    • There, she will face Maria Sakkari after the Greek beat 10th seed Petra Kvitova 6-4 6-3.
    • In the men's draw, Italian sixth seed Matteo Berrettini overcame Belarusian Ilya Ivashka in five sets.
  4. 'I didn't start very well'published at 22:39 British Summer Time 4 September 2021

On his own performance, Djokovic said: "I don't think I started off very well. I was quite passive and I was too far back in the court. I was trying to find a rhythm and he played a lot quicker than my opponents in the opening rounds.

"At the beginning of the second set I felt I was getting that groove back and I was very pleased with the focus. At some points I wasn't at my best but I was concentrated and that's what matters in the end."

And on facing either Russian Aslan Karatsev or American Jenson Brooksby next, he added: "Brooksby is one of the players the lockeroom talks about a lot lately because of his talent. He plays an unorthodox game. He is a very intelligent player. Obviously a very young American. Let's see, he has a big opponent in Karatsev to overcome."

  5. 'I felt all the sets were close'published at 22:36 British Summer Time 4 September 2021

Speaking after his match, Novak Djokovic said:

"Big credit to Kei who played at a very high level today. He deserved a round of applause today.

"I must say he didn't surprise me with his level today, he was playing very quick, it was tough. I felt like all the sets were quite close. Huge congratulations for a huge fight to him."
