Next up on Arthur Ashe will be men's world number one Novak Djokovic.

The Serb continues his pursuit of a calendar Grand Slam against Japan's Kei Nishikori.

We'll follow that one when it gets under way, as Andreas Seppi is on course to take Oscar Otte to at least a fourth set on court 17, where it appears Emma Raducanu will have to wait a little bit longer.

Emma Raducanu only qualified for her first major last week, but she remains totally unfazed by the magnitude of playing in her first overseas Grand Slam.

The 18-year-old delivered yet another impressive display as she swept aside China's Zhang Shuai to book her place in the US Open third round.

Raducanu won 6-2 6-4 in one hour and 21 minutes against 32-year-old Zhang, who is ranked 101 places higher than the 18-year-old.

After a stunning run to the last 16 on her major debut at Wimbledon, can she match that achievement in New York?

James Stevenson: Tennis needs new stars as the old ones/the greats begin to wind down. Carlos Alcaraz looks like he is the real deal. Hopefully Great Britain’s 18-year-old can do what he did.

Naomi Osaka's US Open title defence is over, however.

The world number three lost her third round match against another talented teenager in Canadian 18-year-old Leylah Fernandez 5-7 7-6 (7-2) 6-4.

Afterwards, Osaka - who withdrew from this year's French Open after revealing she has struggled with her mental health since first becoming a Grand Slam champion in 2018 - said she will take another break from tennis.

"I feel like I'm kind of at this point where I'm trying to figure out what I want to do," Osaka said.

"I honestly don't know when I'm going to play my next tennis match. I think I'm going to take a break from playing for a while."

What a night it was on Arthur Ashe Stadium for Spanish teenager Carlos Alcaraz.

In a dazzling display, the 18-year-old claimed a fifth set tie-break to stun Greek third seed Stefanos Tsitsipas in a thrilling third-round encounter - prevailing 6-3 4-6 7-6 (7-2) 0-6 7-6 (7-5) to set up his first Grand Slam fourth-round appearance.

Alcaraz, the youngest man to reach the US Open fourth round in 32 years, said: "I think without this crowd I haven't the possibility to win the match. I was down at the beginning of the fourth set so thank you to the crowd for pushing me up in the fifth.

"It's an incredible feeling for me. This victory means a lot to me. It's the best match of my career, the best win, to beat Stefanos Tsitsipas is a dream come true for me."

There will be at least one Brit in week two, after British men's number one Dan Evans produced a gritty comeback from two sets down to beat Australian Alexei Popyrin.

Evans somehow found a burst of energy in the final set tie-break to win 4-6 3-6 6-3 6-4 7-6 (7-1) in four hours and seven minutes, advancing to the US Open fourth round for the first time.

Evans dropped to his haunches in disbelief as his victory was confirmed on a Popyrin double fault. Up next for him will be Russian world number two Daniil Medvedev.

    Sorribes Tormo v Raducanu

Emma Raducanu's match against Sara Sorribes Tormo is second on court 17, after Andreas Seppi against Oscar Otte.

Otte is currently a set and a break up, so if the German can continue to dominate we may not have too long to wait before the Briton takes to the court.
