Kyle Utterson: Raducanu's performance all round was sensational. Great defensively and saving break points. She has a fantastic serve and backhand or forehand she hits winners for fun. What ever she achieves now is a bonus but she could win this tournament. She's that good.

Bencic knows what it is like to be a star in her teenage years, and she's now an Olympic gold medallist. Emma will just keep the same routine that has taken her this far.

  10. 'Be excited about what she is doing'published at 21:39 British Summer Time 6 September 2021

    Naomi Broady
British player on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

It was the foresight and the belief that she could already get through. She's got that self-belief before she's even gone into her first Grand Slam and it's why I'm not surprised or shocked that she's got there. It's right to be excited - not just neccessarily about the future, but about what she is doing right here, right now.

  12. 'Something special about Raducanu'published at 21:33 British Summer Time 6 September 2021

    Miles Maclagan
Former British Davis Cup player on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

There is something special about Raducanu and the way she takes it all in. My first encounter wih Andy Murray was when he was 16 at Roland Garros and he wasn't overawed by being there, and she reminds me of that. Where is the limit? We just don't know quite yet.

That victory for Emma Raducanu has bumped her up to number 74 in the live world rankings by the way.

She was at 150 going into the tournament.

  14. 'Raducanu is already so wise'published at 21:29 British Summer Time 6 September 2021

    Naomi Broady
British player on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

Emma and I have some things in common with our dads being so involved in our tennis and I've played, I think across my career, every tournament you could possbily play. I said to her if you ever have any questions feel free to ask them, and she has done a few times, but she's already so wise. She asked me during the grass court season if she should play mixed doubles and her thoughts were hold on a minute, if I'm doing really well in singles and I'm into the second week, I might be too tired!

So just to confirm, Emma Raducanu will face Belinda Bencic in the quarter-finals.

Bencic, the Swiss 11th seed, beat Polish seventh seed Iga Swiatek 7-6 (14-12) 6-3 earlier.

  16. 'Raducanu makes this look easy'published at 21:24 British Summer Time 6 September 2021

    David Law
Commentator on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

It's impossible not to be excited. I'm scared to be too full of it over a young player for fear of pulling her into the final before shes even got to the semis, but what it feels like watching this is what it felt like watching Iga Swiatek go all the way at the French Open.

Raducanu has just won a Grand Slam's worth of tennis matches to get to this point, with qualifying and four matches, and she hasn't dropped a set. Bencic will be a really tough match but Raducanu is making this look easy.

The Belinda Bencic match will be interesting. They will both enjoy each other's rhythm.

Belinda has so much confidence at the moment, coming from the Olympics with a gold medal, but I think there is still so much left in Raducanu.
