What a backhand that was! The second serve of Fernandez is not that strong and Raducanu has sent an early message.

Phwoar, how about that! Emma Raducanu leaps all over a slower second serve from Leylah Fernandez and dishes it back with interest, skidding a backhand winner beyond the Canadian.

Fernandez then throws down a double fault and this is a big chance for Raducanu. 0-30.

It is interesting Emma has chosen to serve first. A lot of players prefer to return to just get that first game out of the way.

I am nervous and excited plus that bit of dread because I hope it is a good match. How they have come out in the warm-up is already promising. I am feeling hopeful for Emma. I think she has a bit more to her game.

Great backhand winner from Leylah Fernandez to settle her nerves early on, but the following effort clips the tape and that will be a welcome point on the board for Emma Raducanu. 15-15.

It is pretty simple. Be patient early on but if the short ball is there go for it. Unforced errors will be crucial but you can't just push the ball back. It will be interesting tactically. Both of these girls love the wide ball. Emma is not as accurate from the middle of the court. I think there will be a lot of running and wide-angled balls.

The early signs are Fernandez will have the bulk of the support.
