Play has to stop. They won't be able to play if she is bleeding. What a moment for this to happen.

Britain's Emma Raducanu beats Canada's Leylah Fernandez 6-4 6-3 in US Open women's singles final

Play has to stop. They won't be able to play if she is bleeding. What a moment for this to happen.
*Raducanu 6-4 5-3 Fernandez
Emma Raducanu's knee is bleeding, it happened as she slid into a low backhand on that last point.
At break point down, she will have to see the trainer to get that fixed. The tension.

That is about as brave as you can get from Fernandez.
*Raducanu 6-4 5-3 Fernandez
Emma Raducanu comes into the net again, but leaves a pick-up volley within reach for Leylah Fernandez and the Canadian stings it back into her opponent's strings.
Fernandez has the teenager on the run again off the next, and all of a sudden it is break back point.

Absolute huge. That is so clutch to have the mental strength to go for it.
*Raducanu 6-4 5-3 Fernandez
Emma Raducanu whips a serve wide and then skips in to fire away a forehand winner. 30-15.
*Raducanu 6-4 5-3 Fernandez
Massive forehand winner from Leylah Fernandez and she lets slip a wry smile, but the Canadian can only prod the next wide under immense pressure from Emma Raducanu. 15-15.

My word Fernandez is having to work hard for it. It is relentless hitting from Raducanu. I don't get the sense she is nervous.
*Raducanu 6-4 5-3 Fernandez
The atmosphere in New York is electric. The Arthur Ashe crowd know they are witnessing history.
They have been treated to one of the great finals. And it's not over yet...
*Raducanu 6-4 5-3 Fernandez
Brilliant exchange from both players and Leylah Fernandez finds a gap down the line. The Canadian holds from two championship points down. It is over to Emma Raducanu to serve for the match...

It is such a positive sign Raducanu is going for it though.
Raducanu 6-4 5-2 Fernandez*
She clips the tape with a forehand! Deuce. This is so tense.

Raducanu is relentless.
Raducanu 6-4 5-2 Fernandez*
Massive, massive forehand from Emma Raducanu. Championship point number two.
Raducanu 6-4 5-2 Fernandez*
Well played, Leylah Fernandez. She digs in and works Emma Raducanu around to move to advantage but then cannot deal with a fizzed return from the Brit. Deuce once more.

Leylah Fernandez isn't finished just yet, a huge serve and it's deuce.

Everything is falling into place.
