    Kyrgios 5-7 6-4 3-6 2-3 Humbert*

The home fans are doing their best to rally their boy. Kyrgios steams 40-15 in front and clinches a much-needed hold with an ace down the middle.

Dad George and sister Halimah remain supportive but look anxious.

Here is Simona Halep after her victory: "I was expecting that she was going to play very hard and strong, she is a very tough opponent but it was more than I thought - I am really happy I can smile now.

"I was not that positive when I was talking to myself, I was just blaming myself that I am not strong enough to play against her but in the end I think mentally I was a little bit stronger, had the desire to win the match and didn't want to give up."

    *Kyrgios 5-7 6-4 3-6 1-3 Humbert

That's one Aussie down the dunnie. Will Kyrgios make it another?

On this evidence, yes. "Good!" shouts Kyrgios when a winner from Humbert seals another hold for the Frenchman.

Kyrgios is right. It was good.

    *Kyrgios 5-7 6-4 3-6 0-2 Humbert

Shoulders are slumped more than usual now for Kyrgios. The wheels are coming off quickly.

He appears to mutter something even before he lazily scoops a return into the net for the game.

Humbert has been incredible. Amazing focus and mindset from the 29th seed..

    Break point Halep again... unbelievable.

  12. Humbert breaks early in the fourthpublished at 10:45 Greenwich Mean Time 10 February 2021

    Kyrgios 5-7 6-4 3-6 0-1 Humbert*

Nick Kyrgios could do with a fast, positive start to the fourth set. Ah, he doesn't get it.

Two double faults and misjudging a return from Humbert proves costly and gives the young Frenchman a break point, which he claims when Kyrgios slaps a return into the net.

The Aussie has a hangover from the previous set. He needs to clear his mind. What's the tennis equivalent of Alka Seltzer?!

  13. Postpublished at 10:45 Greenwich Mean Time 10 February 2021

    Halep 4-6 6-4 5-5 Tomljanovic*

Ajla Tomljanovic is gripping on to this game with all her might. Another brilliant forehand winner from deuce to fend off the break. Deuce.

Simona Halep dances around a slightly short ball and drives home a forehand winner.

    Break point, again.

    Halep 4-6 6-4 5-5 Tomljanovic*

Halep thinks she has the point won but Tomljnovic gets strings to it on the stretch and guides the ball back deep to kick off an enduring baseline rally, and the Australian wins it! How...!? Deuce.

  17. Game and third set Humbertpublished at 10:41 Greenwich Mean Time 10 February 2021

    Kyrgios 5-7 6-4 3-6 Humbert

Well, that escalated quickly. Humbert keeps his cool as Kyrgios loses his.

The Aussie picks up another code violation - this time for unsporting behaviour, think because he muttered something - before Humbert calmly rattles through a hold to love with the help of that docked point.

Another of Kyrgios' racquets is introduced to the blue surface of court.

    Halep 4-6 6-4 5-5 Tomljanovic*

How about that for an ace... this has been brilliant.

Ajla Tomljanovic lines up a huge forehand from mid-court, but slaps it narrowly wide,

    Break point Simona Halep.

  19. Postpublished at 10:39 Greenwich Mean Time 10 February 2021

    Halep 4-6 6-4 5-5 Tomljanovic*

Punchy down-the-line backhand winner from Ajla Tomljanovic to recover from an opening double fault. She gets Simona Halep on the run off the next despite slipping slightly, but the second seed just won't quit and takes the point with a brilliant backhand of her own. That's wonderful from Halep. 15-30.

  20. Humbert breakspublished at 10:39 Greenwich Mean Time 10 February 2021

    Kyrgios 5-7 6-4 3-5 Humbert*

Now the atmosphere has turned gloomy. Shortly after news filters through about Tomljanovic unable to serve out the match, Kyrgios has his serve broken.

Where has this come from? Nowhere really.
