There are a few Brits to keep your eye on today, with Heather Watson already winning her doubles match alongside Canada's Leylah Fernandez.

They scored a good 6-4 3-6 6-2 win over 10th seeds Samantha Stosur and Shuai Zhang.

Dan Evans was knocked out of the singles on Tuesday, but advanced with Moldova's Radu Albot in the doubles as the pair beat Andres Molteni and Hugo Nys.

And the formidable partnership of Jamie Murray and Brazil's Bruno Soares are back together to take on Cameron Norrie, the British number three who beat Evans yesterday, and team-mate Marcos Giron.

  2. 'It's a great reward after quarantine'published at 08:10 Greenwich Mean Time 10 February 2021

BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

Former Wimbledon champion Marion Bartoli has been speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra about players having to quarantine before the Australian Open.

"I think for every tennis player the goal is to play and do well in a Grand Slam and you are willing to do whatever it takes to do it," she said.

"It is a new situation for all the players but a fair one for everyone so you are happy to do what it takes to compete. After those two weeks they are free to compete with fans in the stand, almost back to normal, it's a great reward.

"The problem was to stay fit in your room and some players have been quite creative, I enjoyed watching the videos - as a tennis players you have to adapt a lot and the one that can adapt the best will probably be the winner at the end.

"As a player I would be absolutely happy to do it."

Serena Williams continued her bid for a record-equalling 24th Grand Slam title with a straightforward victory over Nina Stojanovic.

Williams, who has dropped just five games so far, sailed by the Serb 6-3 6-0.

However, Petra Kvitova and Bianca Andreescu became the biggest casualties so far.

There was also an exit for Venus Williams, who persevered despite badly injuring her ankle.

The American could barely move but saw out her 6-1 6-0 loss to Sara Errani.

    Osaka v Garcia

Japan's Naomi Osaka is the third seed at this year's Australian Open but has experienced what it is like to enter Grand Slams as the world number one.

"My mindset is very different from other people because I felt when I was number one, I had to do more," she said. "I felt like I had this responsibility to sort of try to carry it the way like Federer and the big three did, like how Serena was for such a long time

I" put a lot of pressure on myself that way. I feel like whatever ranking you are, like if you're seeded, you feel like you have people... it's like you have to win sort of, but you have to overcome that feeling."

The 23-year-old was also asked about her relationship with Venus and Serena Williams.

"Ironically I actually interact with Venus more," said Osaka. "For me, I feel like I do talk about Serena a lot, but Venus is sort of the reason why Serena is where she is.

"Of course, I always love to pay homage to her. But I'm being the little sister, so I kind of talk about Serena all the time because she's also the little sister. Yeah, I feel like whenever I see her, it's really amazing just to watch, like, how much she loves tennis.

"I see her smiling so much nowadays, so it's really nice to see. She just has this aura of loving the sport and this infectious energy. I hope that I can learn a lot from her."

Two-time defending champion Novak Djokovic survived a scare to reach the third round.

Last year's finalist Dominic Thiem also cruised through, with Nick Kyrgios potentially waiting in the third round.
