You can feel the match getting away from Tsitsipas. Nadal has dealt with these kids for years like this. Got a good single backhand have you? Take this. Takes them out wide and pulls the trigger down the line. It is a wonderful thing to watch.

Brilliant from Nadal. Tsitsipas opts for the slice and leaves the Spaniard a target, which he finds with a sweeping backhand winner. Break point.

    Nadal 6-3 0-0 Tsitsipas*

A T-licking ace from the Greek, his third of the day.

But Rafael Nadal is equal to the next one and it tees up a superb rally, with both players covering almost every inch of their side of the court before Nadal delicately disguises a drop backhand to make it 30-30.

What would I say to Tsitsipas now? Don't make so many errors. Keep the ball in one more time. I know it is tough. I like the way he is coming forward but he has to cut the errors out. Hang in there.

    Nadal 6-3 Tsitsipas

Rafael Nadal made five of his own, with two double faults.

The Spaniard has just disappeared off court for a quick change. It's sweaty out there.

That is a really strong set of tennis from Nadal. When he was under a little bit of pressure he reacted. In the big points in the set, 15-30s, 0-15, first serves when he needed them, he won them.

It will be interesting to note Tsitsipas' error count at the end of this set. All I know is there have been too many.

Nadal stayed exactly where he was and didn't move up to play the second serve on break point. He is very happy with Tsitsipas at the back of the court.

He's happy to loop them back and ask the question. Trying to unpick Nadal when he is in this mood is very tough.

    Tsitsipas needs to get inspired.
