    Zverev 3-5 Tsitsipas*

Zverev is beginning to find some sort of rhythm now after his early struggles.

Some confident serving helps him to 40-0, but a forehand into the net is followed up by a double fault to leave the door open to Tsitsipas.

A huge serve saves the German, though.

  2. Tsitsipas holdspublished at 14:31 British Summer Time 11 June 2021

    Zverev* 2-5 Tsitsipas

Some excellent defence from Zverev, as Tsitsipas closes in to kill the point but the German does really well to rescue a smash.

He's left empty-handed however, as the Greek holds.

    Zverev 2-4 Tsitsipas*

Great stuff. There's an exchange at the net before Tsitsipas lobs the ball over Zverev.

The German attempts to rescue it with a 'tweener' but gets too much behind it.

    Tsitsipas moves to 40-30.

    Zverev 2-4 Tsitsipas*

Tsitsipas is unhappy with himself as he overhits a groundstroke, and Zverev whips a forehand that the outstretched Greek can't get to.

A good serve to finish. Zverev responds with his own hold to love.

    Zverev* 1-4 Tsitsipas

Easy as you like for the Greek.

Zverev has made eight unforced errors already and the majority are coming from the forehand so far - another is sent wide.

Tsitsipas works Zverev around the court and the German can only find the net. A first hold to love.

    Zverev 1-3 Tsitsipas*

Zverev's forehand is proving rather unpredictable so far. He sends another one into the crowd.

It's then Tsitsipas' turn to get a forehand all wrong, as he sends the ball into orbit off his frame.

The German gets himself on the board.

    Zverev* 0-3 Tsitsipas

An important game here for Zverev. He needs to get on the board and settle those early nerves.

The German struggles to find his first serve once more, hitting into the tramlines as Tsitsipas asserts himself in the rally, but Zverev comes out on top in the next baseline shootout to move 30-15 up.

    Zverev* 0-3 Tsitsipas

A quick start this from Stefanos Tsitsipas.

A good serve from the Greek puts Zverev on the back foot, and the German overhits a return to hand Tsitsipas a 3-0 lead.

    Zverev 0-2 Tsitsipas*

Zverev races on to a clever drop shot from Tsitsipas, looking to consolidate his early break, but can't scoop it back over the net.

Zverev battles back to 40-30 as he sends Tsitsipas scrambling across the baseline.

    Zverev 0-2 Tsitsipas*

We'll jump in after two games, because Tsitsipas has just delivered the first blow of this semi-final.

A nervous-looking Zverev misjudges a forehand, sending it long and handing an energised Tsitsipas the first break of the match at the second opportunity.

    Zverev v Tsitsipas

Apologies folks, we would have liked to have brought you at least some build up to today's exciting French Open men’s semi-finals today but unfortunately we’ve had some technical problems which have only just been resolved.

    Zverev v Tsitsipas

Zverev, meanwhile, led last year’s US Open final by two sets against Dominic Thiem before the Austrian fought back to win.

Zverev, winner of the Madrid open in May, says he has started to put less pressure on himself in the biggest tournaments.

"I was not very patient with myself, which I feel like now maybe I have learned how to deal with the situation a little bit better," he said.

"I'm maybe a little bit calmer at the tournaments. But the end goal hasn't changed."

    Zverev v Tsitsipas

While Djokovic and Nadal boast 38 Grand Slam titles between them, and 14 at Roland Garros, 24-year-old Zverev and 22-year-old Tsitsipas are yet to land one of the sport's four biggest prizes.

Tsitsipas is yet to play in a Grand Slam final despite reaching the semi-finals in each of the past three majors.

"I don't think there's a player out there that thinks they can't win the tournament," said Tsitsipas.

"Of course I'm playing good, and I think if I keep repeating the process, keep repeating the everyday hustle, for sure there's going to be a reward."

    Men's semi-finals day

I hope the men were following the women's semi-final drama closely yesterday.

More of the same today would be excellent.

Czech Barbora Krejcikova triumphed over Maria Sakkari in a classic French Open semi-final to reach her first Grand Slam final yesterday, winning 7-5 4-6 9-7 with her fifth match point - after saving one herself - in a dramatic match lasting over three hours.

She will meet Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the final tomorrow, after a 7-5 6-3 victory over Slovenia's Tamara Zidansek also secured her first Grand Slam final.
