Nadal handed the umpire a ball towards the end of that game - not sure what was wrong with it but something was not to the Spaniard's liking.

Luckily for him they will be getting new balls in the next game!

    Sock/Gauff 6-4 6-1 Edmund/Nicholls

    Chris Peddy

Coco Gauff and Jack Sock break serve for the third time in this set to close out an ultimately comfortable two sets to love win on court three.

So much to like about Coco Gauff, she played the match with a smile on her face despite her earlier disappointment in the singles and her polite nature towards the ball boys and girls, umpire and everyone in the stadium is great to see.

There were plenty of positives for Briton Kyle Edmund despite the early exit.

He appeared to get through the match relatively comfortably after a knee injury that has kept him out for so long, as well as playing some quality tennis.

Skupski and Krawczyk, who are second seeds this year, led 7-5 4-1 but Krawczyk had her serve broken and the score is now level at 4-4 with Skupski serving next.

    Kyrgios 6-7 (2-7) 4-3 Tsitsipas*

At 0-15 down, some lovely, lovely play from Nick Kyrgios as he caresses a drop shot over the net that Tsitsipas has little chance of meeting.

The first four points of the match are split before a Tsitsipas error hands Kyrgios the game.

  5. Game and first set - Nadalpublished at 19:10 British Summer Time 2 July 2022

    Sonego 1-6 Nadal

Back-to-back aces from Nadal on his way to clinching the first set. Sonego only won two points off the Nadal serve in the first set - and both of those were double faults from the Spaniard.

Sonego will want to forget that first set and never talk about it again. Nadal cruising.

Tsitsipas looks to be on course for another love-hold before he plants a backhand between the tramlines.

Kyrgios grants him the hold on the next point, a backhand meeting the net.

    Still on serve.

    Kyrgios 6-7 (2-7) 3-2 Tsitsipas*

Surprise surprise, Kyrgios is complaining again when Tsitsipas challenges a call that a serve from the Australian is in. Hawk Eye shows it was in, but that doesn't stop Kyrgios from having a moan.

    He holds to 15.

    Sonia Oxley
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

Before this game Nadal had not lost a point on his serve.

You can hear the surprise rippling around Centre Court after those two double faults.

But it's pretty short-lived as normal service resumes and he holds and everyone can settle back into their drinks.

Sonego can't build on that 15-30 as Nadal holds despite two double faults and the two-time Wimbledon champion is in a commanding position at 4-1 in the opening set.

Some lovely drop shots and play at the net on show on Court One. Kyrgios goes for the mid-air powerful forehand return at 30-0 down but it slams into the net.

He earns the next point to prevent a Tsitsipas' love-hold, but Tsitsipas holds on the next.

Just for a brief second it felt like there were a few drops of rain were in the air.

If you can even call it rain, it appears to have stopped so we're all good!

Coco Gauff and Jack Sock are up two breaks of serve in this second set and look to have firm control now.

Wildcards Edmund and Olivia Nicholls will need to come up with something quickly to get back into this one, we're playing best of three remember.

Andrew Simpson: Nick Kyrgios outstanding tennis in that first set, probably deserved to win it but another meltdown and he loses the set.

Andrew Priestley: Nick Kyrgios wastes so much unnecessary energy with his constant moaning, griping and complaining. He seems to exist in a state of thinking that he has been wronged in some way.

A bit more pressure during this game but Nick Kyrgios holds to 30.

He's still moaning at the chair umpire during the change of ends, shaking his head. The chair umpire is back on the phone again.
