    Daniel Altmaier wins it with an ace - what a match!

    Jannik Sinner, the eighth seed, is sent packing. He had two match points of his own in the fourth set, then saved four of them in that final 12-minute game.

    But Altmaier gets in done with an ace, right down the middle.

    At five hours and 26 minutes that is the fifth longest match in the history of Roland Garros!

    American Frances Tiafoe is looking to wrap things up on Court Simonne Mathieu. He is serving for a place in round three against Russian Aslan Karatsev, after breaking the former Australian Open semi-finalist twice in this fourth set.

    This is Karatsev's fifth match at this year's French Open after the world number 62 had to come through qualifying to make the main draw.

    If you're beavering away on a piece in the media centre and take your eyes off the telly, you're soon aware when something dramatic is happening on the courts.

    The clicking of laptops keys has suddenly stopped.

    Eyes are fixed on Sinner scrapping for his life against Altmaier.

    Incredulous gasps greeted that humdinger of a winner from Sinner which saved match point.

    "Wow," was the instant reaction by many.
