Russian 16-year-old Mirra Andreeva progressed with a 6-1 6-2 win over France's Diane Parry earlier today, becoming the seventh player under the age of 17 to reach the women's singles third round at Roland-Garros.

Three of those players - Iva Majoli, Martina Hingis and Serena Williams - went on to reach the final at the event.

Asked what she feels is the most difficult part of doing well at a young age, Andreeva said: "Maybe, as my coach says, to not be like diva. To stay humble all the time.

"Even though I don't think that I have a lot of success now. I didn't win any tournaments. I just play. I [haven't done] incredible things."

On what she wants to achieve in the sport, she added: "The dream. I know that Djokovic, he did 22 Grand Slams, so I want to go until 25. "If it will be possible, I don't know."

  2. Altmaier will serve for the matchpublished at 16:55 British Summer Time 1 June 2023

    Sinner 7-6 (7-0) 6-7 (7-9) 6-1 6-7 (4-7) 4-5 Altmaier*

Jannik Sinner looks out on his feet but he finds extra reserves from somewhere to hold serve and stay alive in this match.

It's over to Daniel Altmaier now. The world number 79 has the chance to beat the eighth seed. He will serve for the match.

  3. Dodin breakspublished at 16:54 British Summer Time 1 June 2023

    Jabeur 3-2 Dodin*

Jabeur dismisses the first break point with a forehand winner, but she concedes the game with another frustrating double fault.

    Game on!

  4. Break points Dodinpublished at 16:53 British Summer Time 1 June 2023

    *Jabeur 3-1 Dodin

Jabeur slaps her thigh after registering her fourth double fault of the contest.

It gives Dodin 15-30 and the noise levels increase as a missed forehand from Jabeur sets up two break points.

  5. Jabeur breakspublished at 16:51 British Summer Time 1 June 2023

    *Jabeur 3-1 Dodin

Dodin saves a couple more break points as the French crowd rally behind her but, at last, Jabeur is able to break at the seventh opportunity in the early stages on Philippe Chatrier as Dodin hits long.

  6. Break points Jabeurpublished at 16:49 British Summer Time 1 June 2023

    Jabeur 2-1 Dodin*

It doesn't appear Dodin is in for an easier service game here.

Jabeur shuffles across the net to volley in for 0-30 and a miss from her opponent then gives up three break points.

Surely the seventh seed will take one of these opportunities...

  7. Jabeur holdspublished at 16:46 British Summer Time 1 June 2023

    Jabeur 2-1 Dodin*

Now it's Dodin's turn to be a bit of a nuisance.

Jabeur opens the door for her opponent with a double fault, before the world number 122 crashes a backhand return down the line.

Oh, hang on! The chair umpire heads down to the clay and a subsequent wide call is met by boos from the crowd.

Just. Jabeur then takes her chance to get to safety once more.

  8. Sinner a break down in the fifth setpublished at 16:45 British Summer Time 1 June 2023

    Sinner 7-6 (7-0) 6-7 (7-9) 6-1 6-7 (4-7) 3-4 Altmaier*

Trouble for the eighth seed now! Jannik Sinner is broken and suddenly Daniel Altmaier is just two games from a big shock.

This match has been going for more than four and a half hours but Altmaier still looks full of energy.

What can Sinner do from here?

  9. Tiafoe takes third set against Karatsevpublished at 16:44 British Summer Time 1 June 2023

    Tiafoe 3-6 6-3 7-5 Karatsev*

Frances Tiafoe, the men's 12th seed, has turned the tables against Russian Aslan Karatsev and now leads by two sets to one.

After trading breaks in the opening two games, the third set stayed on serve all the way until the American broke to make it 6-5, before serving it out.

Tiafoe is one set away from making the third round at Roland Garros for the first time.

  10. Dodin saves break points to holdpublished at 16:43 British Summer Time 1 June 2023

    *Jabeur 1-1 Dodin

A fourth break point goes begging for Ons Jabeur, as Oceane Dodin continues to hold her nerve in front of her home crowd.

She reaches game point, but she's drawn into the net before Jabeur lifts a return into the open court.

Can Dodin finally get herself out of this? She does! An excellent wide serve brings an end to a nine-minute second game.

  11. Altmaier magic keeps it on serve in the fifthpublished at 16:40 British Summer Time 1 June 2023

    *Sinner 7-6 (7-0) 6-7 (7-9) 6-1 6-7 (4-7) 3-3 Altmaier (*denotes next server)

Ridiculous shot from Daniel Altmaier! Jannik Sinner plays a superb return around the net post, Altmaier gets to it but looks to have no chance of doing anything with it.

Instead, he produces a remarkable backhand drop shot that spins back sharply to stay out of Sinner's reach.

Sinner still takes it to deuce but a glorious backhand winner down the line from Altmaier keeps it on serve in the fifth set.

  12. Break point Jabeurpublished at 16:40 British Summer Time 1 June 2023

    Jabeur 1-0 Dodin*

Dodin strikes back with a mighty serve to put Jabeur on the back foot and reach deuce, but another double fault hands over a second break point.

The 26-year-old temporarily rescues herself with some more heavy baseline hitting, however a poor miss at the net invites further pressure.

    Jabeur won't go away here.

  13. Break point Jabeurpublished at 16:37 British Summer Time 1 June 2023

    Jabeur 1-0 Dodin*

It doesn't appear to be quite as windy in Paris as it has over recent days, but Dodin registers her first double fault as she looks to get on the board.

Trouble! Jabeur returns a superb, disguised drop shot to reach break point.

  14. Jabeur holdspublished at 16:35 British Summer Time 1 June 2023

    Jabeur 1-0 Dodin*

It's Ons Jabeur to serve first as the action restarts on Philippe Chatrier following victory for Iga Swiatek.

The Tunisian mixes up her serves nicely to record successive aces, but a couple of double faults mean Oceane Dodin is immediately in with a chance before Jabeur wriggles free to take game one.

It's over to seventh seed Ons Jabeur now on Philippe Chatrier, with the Tunisian coming up against France's Oceane Dodin in her second round match.

The 122nd-ranked Dodin's first round win was her first Grand Slam main draw victory since 2017 and she has never previously reached the third round at a major.

Jabeur, runner-up at both Wimbledon and the US Open last year, has not lost to a player ranked outside the world's top 100 at a major since 2015, when she was also ranked outside the top 100 places.

    Swiatek 6-4 6-0 Liu

Swiatek's third-round tie against Wang Xinyu will be her first on-court meeting with the Chinese world number 80.

Wang is through to the third round of a Grand Slam for the very first time, courtesy of a 7-6 (7-5) 6-2 win over Sweden's Rebecca Peterson.

  18. No birthday partying for Swiatekpublished at 16:20 British Summer Time 1 June 2023

    Swiatek 6-4 6-0 Liu

Iga Swiatek, speaking on court after her second-round win over Claire Liu:

"It's not easy especially when we're constantly switching sides, one time playing with the wind and one time against, so I really needed to adjust that but I'm pretty happy that I managed to play the second set a little bit better and learn from the first set.

"Claire played pretty well, it wasn't easy for sure.

"For sure patience is important, especially on clay because it's easier to reset the rally. I'm that kind of player that needs to get used to the wind.

"I already played this year in Doha where the wind was crazy and I felt good. I'm still trying to get the rhythm, you kind of have to just feel it you know."

On celebrating her birthday on Wednesday: "For sure I wasn't partying. Every year, I'm just trying to keep it cool.

"I'm enjoying the gifts and the small things I get from my team. It's mostly about getting the feeling and thinking a little bit more what happened the past year but I'm not a party person! Maybe after the tournament but for sure yesterday was a pretty chill day."

  19. Tiafoe unhappy over line callspublished at 16:13 British Summer Time 1 June 2023

    *Tiafoe 3-6 6-3 1-2 Karatsev

"You know they were both out." That's what American Frances Tiafoe said to umpire Kader Nouni during the second set of his match against Russian Aslan Karatsev.

The 12th seed was not happy with two line calls that went against him in a set he went on to win. At one point during the seventh game, Tiafoe had a short exchange with Nouni on the court as they debated whether a ball mark from a Karatsev serve on the red clay was touching the line or not.

The French Open does not use technology to determine whether a ball is in or out, unlike most tournaments throughout the year.
