    Hello from Melbourne! Well, g'day.

While everyone back in Blighty shivers in the low temperatures, the nation's top tennis players have been warming up - literally and metaphorically - for a crack at the first Grand Slam prize of the 2024 season.

Seven British players started in the men's and women's singles draws, but that has already been reduced to six after Jodie Burrage lost earlier today.

Andy Murray is the next 'Pom', as they say round these parts, in action tomorrow.

Emma Raducanu, Katie Boulter, Cameron Norrie, Dan Evans and Jack Draper start their campaigns on Tuesday,

As well as the Brits, the usual star names - Novak Djokovic, Iga Swiatek, Carlos Alcaraz, Coco Gauff, etc - are all back in town.

If you've only just woken up to the fact the Australian Open is kicking off, don't worry.

Read up here on what are expected to the main storylines.

Reigning singles champions Novak Djokovic and Aryna Sabalenka are the headline acts in the first night session at this year's Australian Open from 08:00 GMT.

Djokovic, who is aiming for a record-extending 11th men's singles title in Melbourne, faces Croatian teenager Dino Prizmic.

Then, Belarus' Sabalenka plays 18-year-old qualifier Ella Seidel of Germany.

Not a bad opening night at all.
