  1. Alcaraz up a breakpublished at 08:30 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January

    Alcaraz 3-1 Kecmanovic*

Second seed Carlos Alcaraz has got off to the perfect start on Rod Laver Arena. The Spaniard puts on immediate pressure in Serb Miomir Kecmanovic's first service game and gets a bit of luck too, winning a break point after the ball hits the net cord and trickles over, taking it out of Kecmanovic's grasp.

The two-time Grand Slam champion then backs up the break, winning his service game with a backhand winner down the line.

  2. Norrie breaks back immediatelypublished at 08:30 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January

A brilliant response from Cameron Norrie. Serve broken in the opening game of the decider, immediately breaks back in game two and we're back on serve.

Great character being shown from Norrie. If he wins this, it will go down as one of the best victories of his career against an opponent he has previously struggled with.

Norrie was 0-30 up and Zverev takes the next point, but a brilliant, all-out attack forehand winner from Norrie gives him two break points.

Sixth seed Zverev strikes first in the final set. He gets a break point, Norrie runs around the ball to get it on to his forehand, but he can only send a flailing effort powerfully into the net.

Zverev will be in the quarter-finals if he can hold his serve from here on in, but there's still plenty of time for Norrie to fight back.

Well, well, well! Only a fool would have written off Cameron Norrie, clearly.

Norrie served well in the fourth set, returned equally brilliantly and kept his nerve to execute clinically when it mattered.

Got to be some of the best tennis he has played.

Norrie to start us off in the deciding set, but Zverev gains the opening two points, before Norrie somehow finds the line with a great cross-court winner.

    They've done it.

Heather Watson and Joe Salisbury beat the eighth seeds Ellen Perez and Jean-Julien Rojer to advance into the mixed doubles quarter-finals.

They will meet fellow Briton Neal Skupski, who is partnering Desirae Krawczyk (who won the 2021 mixed doubles titles at the French Open and US Open with Joe Salisbury).

    Zverev 7-5 3-6 6-3 4-6 Norrie

We're going the distance as Norrie gets the break in the 10th game of the fourth set.

Norrie set it up with a gorgeous shot down the line to pull Zverev out of position and then flicked away a winner.

He had never taken a set off of Zverev in his past four meetings, now we're into a fifth set decider. Superb from Norrie, who has recovered brilliantly from being a set and a break down.

A twelfth ace of the match from Zverev, this one recorded at 203 km/h, leaves Norrie just watching on as the ball flies past him.

But this is a half chance for Norrie at 15-30. Two more points for the Briton and the set is his.

Before this season, Serb Miomir Kecmanovic had only ever reached the fourth round of a Grand Slam on one occasion. That was in Melbourne in 2022. Two years later, he's matched his career-best performance at a Grand Slam.

Making his first ever major quarterfinal would mean pulling off an almighty victory over second seed Carlos Alcaraz but 24-year-old Kecmanovic has the game to disrupt the Spaniard.

He is battle-hardened after winning 11-9 in a final set tiebreak in the second round, before saving two match points against last year's semi-finalist Tommy Paul in the third round to win in five sets. Both were victories against seeded players for the world number 60.

Despite already winning two Grand Slam titles, this is only 20-year-old Carlos Alcaraz's first time in the fourth round at Melbourne Park.

After winning his maiden major at the 2022 US Open, the former world number one pulled out of last year's Australian Open due to injury and hasn't had the chance to dazzle the Australian crowd since he truly rose to fame in the sport.

It's been so good so far for the Wimbledon champion at this year's event, only dropping a set to Italian Lorenzo Sonego in an entertaining second round match. He benefited from a retirement in the third round against China's Juncheng Shang with the match ending after 66 minutes.

Will he be fresh from the rest or a little out of rhythm under the lights of Rod Laver Arena?

Jiten: Norrie needs to ensure when he approaches, he comes into Zverev’s FH. He’s approaching to the BH too much currently and it’s being eaten up.

    Zverev 7-5 3-6 6-3 4-4 Norrie*

A cross-court two-handed backhand attempt from Norrie misses the corner and that's another hold for Zverev.

Norrie is at that stage where he can't make any mistakes from now on. A poor game now would leave his opponent serving for a place in the final eight.

  18. Alcaraz & Kecmanovic on courtpublished at 08:11 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January

Second seed Carlos Alcaraz and world number 60 Miomir Kecmanovic have arrived on Rod Laver Arena to start the night session and are warming up for their fourth round clash.

    *Zverev 7-5 3-6 6-3 3-4 Norrie

We're getting into the business end of the fourth set and we're still on serve.

Now would be a great time for Norrie to get a break. He'd be serving for two sets apiece if he can win this game.

  20. Postpublished at 08:03 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January

    Zverev 7-5 3-6 6-3 3-3 Norrie*

A hold to 15 from Zverev, whose backhand is starting to make the difference. We're halfway through the fourth set. Which way will this one go?

Norrie needs to take the set to force a decider.
