Former Olympian and race director Steve Brace says it is a great day for the Welsh capital.

It’ll now be the largest mass participation event to take place in Wales since before the pandemic.

“It’s grown tremendously over the years," said Brace.

“A lot of people have been waiting for it, it’s part of the Welsh culture now, it’s our London Marathon.

"It’s our opportunity to showcase the city through all the landmarks - from water to all the suburbs - to the lake and using all our iconic places.”

A lot of spectators have turned out to see family or friends or to wish the runners well. I have seen signs wishing mums well in the race.

This is the largest mass participation in Wales event since the pandemic. It’s an ideal day for it, the sun is shining, a bit of a breeze – perfect conditions.

It does feel like we are getting back to some sort or normality seeing an event like this in the Welsh capital.
