    Mahamed Mahamed and younger brother Zakariya Mahamed are setting the early pace, and they've broken clear along with Kadar Omar - who won the 2022 Trafford 10k.

    The elite runners are off, the field let by brothers Mahamed Mahamed and Zakariya Mahamed, Derek Hawkins and Natasha Cockram.

    Mahamed is the current English National Cross Country Champion while younger brother Zakariya won the Northern Ireland International Cross Country back in January.

    The fastest athlete on paper is Derek Hawkins with a best time of 63:53, he is an established marathon runner who finished ninth at the Commonwealth Games back in 2014.

    Morocco's Abdessamad El Yaagoubi, Norway's Andreas Iden and Australian Matt Fox add some international runners to the race.

    Welsh runner Natasha Cockram says she is targeting a new personal best at this Sunday's Cardiff Half Marathon.

    The 29-year-old hopes a good performance in the race will help lead to selection for the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, which begin on 28 July.

    "I'm really looking forward to the weekend," said Cockram.

    "Hopefully I'm in good form, Sunday will be a good test of that, but training has been going well.

    "I'd love a new PB, I think I'm in PB shape based on my training, and I want to enjoy it."

    We will have about 10 minutes before the elite runners begin their race, but today's wheelchair race has just started.

    It has its largest field to date, including several previous winners, Tiaan Bosch, Sam Kolek, Richie Powell and Mel Nicholls.

    Nicholls is the fastest of the women this year, with a best of 53:39, while Bret Crossley is the fastest of the men, with a personal best time of 48:12.

    2022 Cardiff Half Marathon

    Good morning! It's another beautiful day in Cardiff and what better to do with it than run 13.1 miles?

    After a two-year absence, the Cardiff Half Marathon is back, with thousands of runners taking to the streets today.

    Whether you're trying to qualify for the Commonwealth Games, raise money for charity or just running to have some fun, it's always a day to remember. Good luck all!
