    Day two saw Britain win their first medal of the Games, an Italian veteran slider win his sixth medal in a sixth different Olympic Games and the hosts Russia secure their first gold of Sochi 2014 in front of Russian president Vladimir Putin. It's been a good day.

    Look out for sprint gold medallist Ole Einar Bjoerndalen, who will set off first in Monday's men's 12.5km pursuit (15:00 GMT).

    If the Norwegian wins a medal of any colour, he will make history as the first athlete to win a record 13 Winter Olympic medals. The 40-year-old is currently tied with cross country skier and countryman Bjorn Daehlie.

    If you thought you had to be up early this morning (06:30 GMT) to see Jenny Jones in action in the slopestyle semi-finals, you'll be losing an extra 90-minutes sleep tonight if you want to see Britain's men, the world curling bronze medallists, begin the Sochi 2014 campaign with a round-robin game against hosts Russia. They start at 05:00 GMT.

    Britain's women curlers face Sweden, the team they beat to win last year's world title, in their first group game at 10:00.

    It'll also be a first chance to see Britain's short track speed skaters with Elise Christie, Charlotte Gilmartin and Jack Whelbourne in action. Whelbourne's medal race will be tomorrow, when he goes in the men's 1,500m.

    And Britain's four-time Olympian Chemmy Alcott will compete in the downhill element of the super combined only (at 07:00 GMT) and use the outing as a training exercise ahead of the downhill on Wednesday.

    There can only be one. Jenny Jones winning Britain's first medal of the 2014 Winter Games. Competing in her first Olympics, Jones secured bronze in the snowboard slopestyle, making history by ending Britain's 90-year wait for a Winter Olympic medal on snow.

    So we've reached the end of day two and Great Britain are on the medal table, courtesy of Jenny Jones' bronze (pictured). Thirteen golds have been dished out already, just another 85 to go.

    Norway retain their grip on top spot in the medal table, adding three bronze medals to their collection to bring their total to seven.

    "I couldn't believe my parents were definitely here," says Jenny Jones. "So to suddenly see them - I definitely held back the tears until they popped up. Ever since I was a little girl in gymnastics, I didn't want to see them. I wanted them there but not to see them.

    "This is completely different [to winning the X Games], that feeling of doing something for your country. lt sounds weird to say it but, yeah, very proud."

    Britain's newest Olympic medallist, Jenny Jones, dominated social media chatter in the UK on Sunday morning, with many of the trending topics relating to her bronze medal performance, and her efforts inspiring tweets from the likes of British gold medal winners Andy Murray and Jessica Ennis-Hill.

    Jones's Twitter account,, external in the nine hours after her medal was secured, has grown by almost 40,000 new followers, with over 34,000 mentions of @jennyjonessnow or use of the #jennyjones hashtag from 9am-10am GMT on Sunday, and a peak of 4,170 tweets per minute when she won Britain's first medal on the snow.
