The ice dance element is still to come, however with only a maximum of 10 points still on offer, Russia's lead of 11 over Canada means they've already won gold.

It's their first gold of the Games with victory in the team figure skating. Canada and the United States will take silver and bronze respectively.

"Did you know the temperature of a sled's blades may not be more than 5C warmer than the control environment or that the spikes on a luger's gloves may not exceed 5mm?"

I don't think Jamie Anderson has stopped smiling since she finished her snowboard slopestyle run and realised she was an Olympic champion. She grabs hold of her medal and doesn't let it go for the duration of the American national anthem. Incidentally, the medals in Sochi are the heaviest ever at 525 grams, eclipsing the previous record set by London 2012 of 400 grams.

Jenny Jones takes in a deep breath and climbs aboard the podium to receive her bronze medal. The Briton, 33, waves to the crowd and then leans forward to have the medal placed around her neck. She looks pretty nervous and takes a few moments to just stare at the medal as she takes in what she's accomplished.

Aimee Fuller, Team GB: "Jenny Jones has been such a pioneer and to see what she has done for British snowboarding is insane and I could not be happier for her. I really hope everyone back home has got a taste of what we do. It is a crazy sport and a unique thing. It is dangerous, fast and exciting and that's what make it so special. It is an honour to have been part of this."

Ed Leigh, BBC Sport: "I felt like I should do the professional thing but I have lived through 20 years of Jenny Jones' career and to top it off with a medal is a fairytale finish."

Graham Bell, BBC Sport: "Jenny is the loveliest person you could meet and she is a great ambassador for the UK."
