    Men's 15km + 15km skiathlon

Under way. Four laps of the course in the classic style, then four laps in the free style.

If you can imagine, in the classic style sees the legs only separate slightly, with the arms working hard, while the free style is almost like skating on skis.

Already we've had a crash on the first corner, with Norwegian Simen Hegstad Kruger involved.

Switzerland's Dario Cologna is the defending champion, with Norwegian 21-year-old Johannes Hoesflot Kaebo looking like his biggest threat.

Andrew Musgrave and Callum Smith go for Great Britain. Musgrave was fourth over 50km at last year's World Championships.

Now, though, there's a gold medal up for grabs in the men's skiathlon.

To explain simply, the chaps will do a 30km ski, 15km in one 'classic' style and another 15km in the 'free' style. You may have previously known it as the combined pursuit.

    Women's slopestyle

    Nick Hope
    BBC Sport in Pyeongchang

Pyeongchang 2018 organisers tell me that the decision to run the women’s snowboard slopestyle competition as a straight final on Monday - after the cancellation of qualification following heavy winds today - was part of their “contingency plan.”

"We had the plan in place following discussions at the team captaincy meeting ahead of the Olympic competition commencing and it was agreed by all representatives and nations present,” an official tells BBC Sport.

For all my chat about the weather, that picture from the skiathlon doesn't make it look too bad, does it? A bit of blue sky and all that.

Having said that, you'd probably prefer to be rugged up watching a nice indoor event, something like speed skating, rather than braving the elements outdoors, wouldn't you?

    Men's 15km + 15km skiathlon

    Caroline Chapman
    BBC Sport in Pyeongchang

At the Alpensia cross-country course, Britain’s Andrew Musgrave and Callum Smith are preparing for the men’s 15km + 15km skiathlon.

It’s a mass start event where competitors switch from classic to free technique halfway through the race.

Musgrave is in fine form at the moment, having won bronze at a World Cup event at the end of last year. Look out for him wearing bib number 10, with Smith wearing 63.

Norway’s Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo is the overall World Cup leader.

The weather has definitely taken a turn for the worse in Pyeongchang. We knew that it wasn't great when the women's slopestyle qualifiers got yanked because of high winds, but it now looks grey, bleak, and pretty 'orrible out there.

The men's 15km + 15km skiathlon starts in half an hour. Here's hoping it's not too rough on the ironmen.

OAR are placed third in the ice dance. Added to their performance so far, they sit second overnight, with Canada holding a big lead.

Remember, there are three more disciplines tomorrow to decide the gold medal.

Natalia Zabiiako and Alexander Enbert won bronze at the European Championships. Zabiako is doing more rotations than a tumble dryer before Enbert lifts her with one arm.

Oh no! A completely unenforced slip. A real shame.

    Hotting up.

Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford go 10 points better than Italy with the penultimate routine of the day.

Just the OAR duo to come.
