Martins Durkurs of Latvia can't believe it. The Great British fans are cheering and Dom Parsons has just won a medal. The first medal of the Games for Great Britain.

Moments before he was distraught thinking he had blown it, now he has a bronze medal. From despair to joy in seconds. The beautifully thrilling nature of top-class sport. Wonderful stuff.

    Skeleton: Men's heat four

England-based New Zealander Rhys Thornbury was in seventh-placed, but his hopes of a medal vanish after a major mistake right at the start as his sled falls out of the grooves.

It means Jerry Rice jumps up another place, and is now guaranteed a top-10 spot.

    Wow!

Things looked to be going Kjetil Jansrud's way in the men's super G but Austrian Mattias Mayer has just snatched the gold medal position out of his grasp.

Mayer won gold in the downhill four years ago and now is on course for another gold.

The fact that we're mentioning Jerry Rice's name in the same sentence as Matt Antoine and the Germans shows what a quality slider he is.

They are all good athletes in their own right and are very seasoned athletes.

For him to be in that company at this stage of his career is really, really good.

"We’re fine, we’re not nervous! But it is feeling a little colder all of a sudden,” Dom Parsons’ father David tells me.

He and wife Judith are partially hidden at the back of the stands, happy to let others near the front as the lower ranked athletes hit the track.

We’re going to try and force them closer to the action so they can have a better view of their son as he ‘could’ become GB’s first medallist of the 2018 Winter Olympics in the next 30 minutes or so!

    Drama!

Aleksander Aamodt Kilde is going to be in some pain in the morning.

Trying to put himself in the mix in the men's super G, the Norwegian has clattered into a gate on the course and dropped his right pole in the process.

A few turns later Kilde then slips, falling to the ice, but manages to get back up on his skis and finish eighth. An eventful and bruising run.

Will it be ‘fab Friday’? I think there is genuinely disbelief right now among the GB fans packed into the Olympic Sliding Centre here in Pyeongchang.

Dom Parsons in a medal position heading into the deciding round and team-mate Jerry Rice 12th in his Olympic debut.

GB could have their first medal of the Games.

  19. Svindal only second in super G so farpublished at 02:25 Greenwich Mean Time 16 February 2018

    Alpine skiing: Men's super G

A scrappy run from Aksel Lund Svindal and there will be no 'speed double' in Pyeongchang.

The Norwegian is 0.31 seconds slower than his compatriot Kjetil Jansrud and can only manage second.

Svindal won the downhill ahead of Jansrud in the downhill. Will the positions be swapped in the super G?

  20. A second South Korea gold?published at 02:25 Greenwich Mean Time 16 February 2018

    Skeleton: Men's heat four

Will the home fans be cheering on another gold? It will be South Korea's second gold of the Games if Yun Sungbin stays in first position.

Their only gold so far came from Lim Hyo-jun in the men's 1500m short-track speed skating final on Saturday. And you can watch that again here.
