Freestyle fans are split between halfpipe skiing and snowboard Big Air this morning but fortunately for the skiers thousands have turned out to support the women in qualifying action this morning.

The men’s snowboard halfpipe final - won by Shaun White - was one of the best supported I’ve witnessed with a truly incredible atmosphere.

Hopefully 12 of these athletes will have the chance to sample that in their final tomorrow.

    Women's halfpipe qualification

We quickly turned our attention to the ice dance but, to confirm, Molly Summerhayes will not be reaching the final of the ski halfpipe. Rowan Cheshire, who still has a second run up her sleeve, remains in ninth place.

Their score of 68.36 puts them top of the leaderboard, albeit with plenty of pairs still to go.

I thought it was terrific. They were a little tentative in a spaces just making sure they got their levels.

They would have loved to have got level four on their twizzles but they got level three.

It's amazing. Their first event of the season was the qualifying event and they won it. That was their last chance to qualify and they did it.

They are GB's comeback kids. Twenty months ago Penny smashed her knee into eight pieces.

They missed most of last season and it's been a race against time to qualify. It's been a battle to defy the odds to compete at these Olympics Games for Nick and Penny.
