The men's Euros, the men's 100m gold, Eurovision...is a historic first ever Olympic curling gold also in the post for Italy?

It would be their first curling medal of any colour in Olympic history actually...

Stefania Constantini and Amos Mosaner are 6-2 up at the half-way stage. One more big end and the big end might fall out of Norway's challenge.

Earlier, Cornelius Kersten became the first male British speed skater to feature at the Winter Olympics in 30 years.

Kersten finished 19th in the men's 1500m, though the 1000m is his preferred distance.

Reflecting on the race, he said: "It felt good. In the last few days I was feeling ready and then when you get here you're soaking up the experience.

"Then I was like 'It's game time now, get ready to go'. We had a game plan for the race and we set that out, and most of that worked out.

"It was just a really nice way to start off my races at these Games. For what I'd planned, that all worked out so I was really happy about that."

Kersten's partner Ellia Smeding just beat him to becoming GB's first long track speed skating Olympian since 1992.

On their achievements, Kersten added: "It means the world to me. I've said before that it's a childhood dream come true to be here.

"At that start line I was a bit emotional as well. I was thinking back to everything we'd worked for. Just helping to put long track back on the map [for Team GB] again, I'm really proud to be able to do that.

"And especially being able to go through this experience with Ellia makes it even more special."

Norwegian legend Johan Olav Koss won successive golds in the event in 1992 and 1994.

It is 62 years since this double was done in two Olympics which were four years apart - Soviet skater Yevgeny Grishin achieving the 1500m double in 1956 and 1960.

More chirrup around the sheet than in your average Australian slip cordon.

The Italian pair are in constant, high-volume, urgent communication when the stone is in motion.

They are looking well place to take something out of this third end as well...

Opportunity building here for the Italians - this is what we see so often in mixed doubles. Stones coming in on top of each other and then you have to look at the angles and see what's possible.

A slight precarious position here for Norway - after that two in the first they wouldn't want to give a big score back to the Italians in the second if they can help it.
