Treacy says he has had "four years of injury chaos" leading up to this.

The 26-year-old is fourth in the penultimate lap, to the bell, he's having to work very, very hard, it's slipping away. The burst of pace takes four athletes away from him and he ends fifth.

Shaoang Liu wins it for Hungary. Treacy's only hope is if judges feel there were too many shenanigans in running.

  16. Skeleton training completed - racing starts on Thursdaypublished at 12:20 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2022

    Anna Thompson
    BBC Sport in Beijing

The skeleton sliders have had six official training runs on the 1,975ft long track in Yanqing - which is known as the snow dragon with 16 curves, including a 360 degree turn.

The British athletes have been progressing steadily in the training runs, improving each time.

Marcus Whyatt, who won a silver medal at the test event, was sixth in his final training run, with Matt Weston in eighth.

In the women's, 2018 bronze medallist Laura Deas was 11th and Brogan Crowley 10th.

It is always hard to work out anything from training runs as there is a lot of smoke and mirrors between the teams with some athletes electing not to race each run.

Great Britain have won a medal every time skeleton has been part of the Winter Olympic programme - including golds in the last three Games.

There are four runs with the men's first two runs on Thursday, second two runs on Friday. The women race on Friday and Saturday.
