    Third time lucky.

British skip Eve Muirhead will finally contest an Olympic final after previously losing two semi-finals.

Now the 31-year-old is determined the team take their golden opportunity.

"We need to knuckle down, get back to a flat ground and know we have one match to go," she said.

"When you get to the final no-one likes going away with a silver medal so believe you me will fight for that gold."

Germany's Laura Nolte and brakewoman Deborah Levi win gold in the two-woman bobsleigh, backing up the world bronze that they won last year.

Compatriot Mariama Jamanka pilots another German sled to silver while American Elana Meyers Taylor is third.

Great Britain's pair of Mica McNeil and Montell Douglas are a disappointing 17th.

Team GB men's curlers have been speaking to BBC Sport about their silver medal win:

Bruce Mouat: "I'm extremely proud of them all, we obviously wanted a different result, but every hour that's passing we're feeling better about having this medal around our necks. I'm standing with four guys that I'm so proud of."

Grant Hardie: "We all played some amazing shots all week, it's pressure that we've never felt before so to see that we still played well and our best that in the end unfortunately wasn't quite good enough, but we're really happy with how we performed all week."

Bobby Lammie: "We've been getting messages all week from friends and family back home, we cant thank them enough for all their support, we've felt pretty overwhelmed with all the support so just thank you very much."

Hammy McMillan: "This was something we put together five years ago. It was the goal to get to the Olympics, then we realised in the last 18 months our performance level in the European and world stages we could potentially stand on top of the podium at the Olympics. Obviously we weren't standing on the top but to get that silver medal we are absolutely buzzing."

Alternate Ross Whyte: "Couldn't have asked for better guys to have helped get to this position and its fantastic and I'm just super proud of the boys. British curling going ahead and hopefully all the team can really push on and get more medals."

  8. What's happened so far today?published at 14:10 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February 2022

    Day 15 headlines

Time for a recap. Here's how our British hopes have fared today:

    • Great Britain's men's curlers had to settle for Olympic silver after Sweden won a nerve-shredding final
    • It was Team GB's first medal of the Beijing Games
    • Britain are in medal contention in the four-man bobsleigh with Brad Hall's sled sixth after the opening two runs
    • GB's Gus Kenworthy fell twice - the latter a huge hit - before securing eighth in ski halfpipe as his freestyle skiing career came to an end.
    • The cross country 50km mass start was shortened to 30km, with British skier Andrew Musgrave - who finished 12th - describing the decision as "a joke"

    They've done it!

The arena erupts when it is confirmed Sui Wenjing and Han Cong have won gold.

The Chinese pair score 155.47 for their free routine, giving them a total of 239.88 - that's a slender winning margin of 0.63.

    Wow!

Tears of regret in Pyeongchang. Tears of joy in Beijing.

A nation expects as Sui Wenjing and Han Cong - China's poster pair - go for gold.

A smooth and serene display has the crowd going wild. Chinese colours and flags everywhere in the arena.

But are the judges equally impressed?

Think it's going to be tight...

So far it's looking like the Britons will have lifted themselves two places. So, probably heading for a 17th-place finish.

A good run to finish off with but overall I don't think they will be happy with their performance. It's all done now, the runs have been good, it shows the potential that Micha McNeil has because she has had four consistent runs. She has driven really really well but combination of the runners and the sled just didn't seem to work for them this time round.

A loud yelp of support can be heard as Sui Wenjing and Han Cong skate out onto the ice...

"Bravo!" shouts a deep voice as Evgenia Tarasova and Vladimir Morozov finish a stunning routine.

Morozov drops to a knee, covering his face as emotion takes over.

The crowd rise to their feet, giving the world and European champions a rousing standing ovation.

Will it be enough for the Olympic title too? Chinese leaders Sui Wenjing and Han Cong went into the free dance just 0.16 points ahead of Russians.

They're into the gold position! Tarasova and Morozov score 155.00. That puts them into first and guarantees them at least a silver medal.

They've gone faster again on this fourth run - Mica McNeill and Montell Douglas clock 1:02.14 for a total time of 4:08.85.

It was the fastest time the Britons have done at these Games but they are still likely to be disappointed with their overall timings. They will have to wait to see if it lifts them up a place or two.

Next up is another Russian pair: Anastasia Mishina and Aleksandr Galliamov.

These two are the world and European champions so expect a big performance.

Technically it proves to be very strong. However Robin Cousins - our BBC expert - says it lacks "soul".

    What do the judges think?

They're impressed. A score of 154.95 puts Mishina and Galliamov into the gold-medal position.

  18. GB's McNeill and Douglas go faster againpublished at 13:37 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February 2022

    Two-women bobsleigh heat four

The teams go in reverse order, slowest first, in the final run.

Britain's Mica McNeill and Montell Douglas, 19th in the standings, are therefore pretty early up.

And they deliver their best run of the competition so far - 1:02.14 - it won't be enough to trouble the top 10, never mind the podium.

But it might bump them up a few spots by the final reckoning.

Ooooh! A stumble during a loop could prove costly for Russia's Aleksandra Boikova and Dmitrii Kozlovski.

Belly-flopping onto the mat barriers with beaming smiles afterwards seems to indicate they aren't too unhappy with their performance.

They score 141.91 and that's enough to drop them into top spot. For now...
