The leaders after yesterday's top heats have already done their third runs.

And Germany's Laura Nolte and Deborah Levi are streets ahead of everyone else. They lead another Germany sled - piloted by Mariama Jamanka - by 0.78 seconds. The United States' Elana Meyers Taylor is in third, another 0.39 seconds back.

Those three are going to be on the podium, barring any major slip-ups.

Whatever happens in this third run, Mica McNeill and Montell Douglas will race in the fourth and final run.

Twenty sleds compete in the final scrap for the medals so all 20 going in the third will continue.

In the third heat, sleds start in the overall ranking order after two heats, from first to last.

In the final heat, teams start in reverse order of their overall position after three heats, from 20th to first.

Kate: Such a bizarre sport, bobsleigh. We need a summer version. Helter Skelter with mats.

I wonder how many people you could get on the mat?

What else is happening? The bobsleigh! Time for the final two runs of the two-woman event.

Britain's Mica McNeill finished eighth in PyeongChang, Britain’s best finish in two-woman bobsleigh, but replicating that looks off the cards.

McNeill and former Olympic sprinter Montell Douglas lie 19th after the opening two runs, 1.75 seconds off the podium.

Extra points for picking a Lennon classic. Marked down in my book for an orchestral version, though.

The Olympic judges don't take that into consideration though. The Spanish duo go into second.

Is this the real life or is it just fantasy? Very much the real life in Beijing. For us Brits it looks like a scene from a science fiction film.

    Men's freeski halfpipe

Team GB's Gus Kenworthy speaking to BBC Sport after finishing 8th in the freeski halfpipe: "It's not the run I came out to do, it's not the run I was hoping to do in the final and it wasn't even the run I was hoping to do considering the conditions. But I still had more than I wanted.

"After that bad slam I was just happy to be walking after the run and get down in one piece.

"I'm eternally indebted to this sport and feel so grateful to have been a part of it."

    Day 15 headlines

Time for a recap. Here's how our British hopes have fared today:

    • Great Britain's men's curlers had to settle for Olympic silver after Sweden won a nerve-shredding final
    • It was Team GB's first medal of the Beijing Games
    • Britain are in medal contention in the four-man bobsleigh with Brad Hall's sled sixth after the opening two runs
    • GB's Gus Kenworthy fell twice - the latter a huge hit - before securing eighth in ski halfpipe as his freestyle skiing career came to an end.
    • The cross country 50km mass start was shortened to 30km, with British skier Andrew Musgrave - who finished 12th - describing the decision as "a joke"

There is supposed to be a cheering ban at the figure skating. No chance that is being adhered to.

When you have your skates on, your head is no longer the heaviest part of your body - your feet are.

So consequently holding the hip will balance the body much better than in dance or ballet where they hold the bottom of the back because the head is the heaviest part.

Finding that fine balance for the women over head is very important for the pair men.

Imagine the eyes of BILLIONS of people watching the biggest moment of your career.

    Gives me shivers.

But that's why the Olympians are incredible, the ability to perform with clarity and thought under the most extreme pressure.

Going into today's free programme, Sui Wenjing says this is what the leading pair thrive on.

"We hope to show our highest level in the free skating,” said Sui.

"We feel like when we show our best selves to the world, the world belongs to us.

"Only during these several minutes, perhaps billions of people around the world are looking at us. That is the most honourable moment in our life."

Things are so tight between the leading pairs that even a badly-timed twitch could prove crucial.

The Chinese leaders are just 0.16 points ahead of Russians Evgenia Tarasova and Vladimir Morosov, who also surpassed the previous world best.

World and European champions Anastasia Mishina and Aleksandr Galliamov are in third, with another Russian pair, Aleksandra Boikova and Dmitrii Kozlovski, in fourth.

The final competition of the figure skating comes to its conclusion, with pairs just about to kick off.

China will be hoping that Sui Wenjing and Han Cong are standing on the top of the podium at the end of it.

The pair broke the world record in yesterday's short programme with a stunning performance but will remember that they led at this stage in PyeongChang.

And that ended in a silver medal after the free programme.

Sixteen pairs go in the free skating, starting with those who scored lowest yesterday and ending with the highest scorers.
