Bruce Mouat sends a stone whizzing down the middle to pick off a Czech guard, but Tomas Paul responds by laying down another to protect his red.

Two stones to go for GB and there's work to do in this sixth end...

GB are using this power play to protect their lead.

But the Czechs are ignoring that and protecting the centre.

We're set up for some interesting finishes elsewhere too!

The USA are 6-5 up against China now, while Italy lead Australia 4-3.

But Sweden are in control against Canada, with that score at 6-2 with two ends remaining.

GB successfully limit their losses and the Czech Republic take their single.

So, three in it, with two ends to play.

    GB 6-2 Czech Republic

The Czech Republic are having a good look at this as they anticipate Bruce Mouat's next move and search for solutions.

Mouat sweeps in from the left to add another block, with the Czechs on course for a single in the sixth end.

Two stones to go. Tomas Paul takes aim... Another guard is placed. They just want to make sure they get this one back here.

That was ideal from Jen Dodds, a great start.

I'm really impressed by how they play and any youngsters watching should try to follow suit.

Plenty of time for it all to change yet though...

Very unlucky - just caught a little bit of that red, but another one for GB.

So far, they'll be pretty pleased with the way that they're playing.

Another nicely thrown stone from Bruce Mouat.

That's one of his strengths - his strategy.

A final shot at this fifth end for GB.

They know they have the single. Can they improve on that? Ah, close - but not quite! The yellow just nudges away after kissing the central stone.

Still, it's a 6-2 lead with three ends remaining.

  12. Day one so far: Ormerod misses out on finalpublished at 07:06 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2022

Just woken up to your 7am alarm? Here's what has happened overnight.

British snowboarder Katie Ormerod missed out on a place in the women's slopestyle final as she made her long-awaited Olympic debut.

After injury ruled her out on the eve of the Pyeongchang Games four years ago, the 24-year-old finished 19th in qualifying on the artificial snow in China.

"It feels amazing to be able to call myself an Olympian," Yorkshire's Ormerod told BBC Sport.

"I've been waiting years to finally say that. To drop in and compete at an Olympics. It feels really special."

It's really difficult to keep a big lead in mixed doubles.

You can't relax at all - one or two little mistakes and before you know it, you're opponent is scoring a three or a four.

We're reaching the business end of the fifth end here.

The Czech pair have the positioning as Bruce Mouat lines his next attempt up... It's good! The yellow nudges the red out of the centre. Two stones left.

Plenty of entertainment across the curling matches this morning.

China have levelled at 3-3 against the USA, while Sweden had a great fourth end to move 5-1 ahead versus Canada. It's tight in the other match, with Australia closing to within one of Italy at 3-2.

Tomas Paul won't be happy with that at all. He gave himself enough ice, but it is definitely moving much more than when they first started.

What a complete turnaround - it looked like the Czech Republic were going to be having three in the house.

Bruce Mouat lines up GB's penultimate stone - and that's a great effort!

Mouat knocks two reds out of the house, leaving his yellow in, just as it appeared the Czech Republic were set to reduce the deficit somewhat.

A final attempt for the Czechs... and they do pick up one. It could have been a lot worse for GB though.

Rout completed by Canada. Four more goals in the third period sees the four-time Olympic champions finish off a routine victory.

In the six women's Winters competitions, Canada have reached the final on each occasion - three times beating the United States in the final and twice losing to their neighbours.

Sweden are the only other nation to reach the final, losing to Canada at the 2006 Torino Games.
