The women's team start a chant of 'U-S-A. U-S-A...' but they're the only ones and it quickly dies out.

A warm round of applause and some British cheers greet Bobby Lammie's latest shot.

At least they're all trying to generate an atmosphere!

    Men's curling - USA 2-3 Great Britain

    Steve Cram
    Curling commentator on BBC TV

The US do this all the time. They talk up their shots and then look ahead to GB's shots.

The final shot could not be any easier for Bruce Mouat - he just needs to get this anywhere near the house for a three.

Relax, everybody - take a deep breath! We're on the board!

    Thomas Duncan

Boom, how's that for a response?

Rocking the Americans' confidence will be key, and that was a great way to do it.

We've seen in this tournament that they'll make some key shots, but they'll miss plenty too.

  5. Great Britain take leadpublished at 12:48 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2022

Semi-final: USA 2-3 Great Britain (after three ends)

    Oh John Shuster.

The American skip gives it a lot of talk about where he is going to put his first stone.

The reality doesn't match theory. That leaves the door open for Great Britain and Bruce Mouat punishes his counterpart's mistakes.

    THREE for Great Britain.

    Big.

There is something a little Corey Pavin circa 1991 about Matt Hamilton and John Shuster's look I think.

Pavin was playing in a Ryder Cup clash that became known as "War on the Shore" for some of the bad blood between the two sides.

Any advances on the "Dingdong in Beijing" as a nickname if this match gets feisty?

Figure skating - women's free skate

    Sonia Oxley
    BBC Sport in Beijing

The Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) says it will "categorically disagree" with any asterisk placed next to the results if Kamila Valieva finishes in the top three today.

The IOC has said there will be an asterisk until her anti-doping case is resolved and there will be no medal ceremony.

The ROC has sent a letter to the International Skating Union asking that the team results, where the Russians won gold, should stand regardless of the outcome of Valieva's case.

We're into the final 10 in the women's singles free skate programme. These skaters have the best scores from the short programme so, unless something remarkable happens, will be where the medals* come from.

Kamila Valieva, allowed to compete despite her positive drugs test, will be last to go (13:49 GMT) as the leader from the first stage.

Mariah Bell of the USA leads on 202.30 as it stands.

*No medals will be awarded if Valieva ends in the top three.

    Jackie Lockhart
Four-time Olympic curler on BBC TV

I think it is just small errors. I guess the guys just have to remain focused and keep doing what they are doing.

They were unlucky to lose two there.

  11. 'A little concerned'published at 12:36 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2022

    Men's curling - USA 2-0 Great Britain

    Steve Cram
    Curling commentator on BBC TV

That is going to be a steal of two - Bruce looks a little concerned. It wasn't the start they wanted.

It is a start that John Shuster could only have dreamed of. Great Britain cannot be unsettled by that.

Semi-final: USA 2-0 Great Britain (after two ends)

    Thomas Duncan
    BBC Scotland in Beijing

In their recent run of six straight wins, GB have mainly hit the front and held off their opposition superbly.

They'll need to keep calm and not let that steal of two affect them.

The support for all four teams in the stands is making it a tad louder than it has been. It's all relative, though, in a pretty empty arena!

  13. US move two uppublished at 12:35 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2022

Semi-final: USA 2-0 Great Britain (after two ends)

It is a two-stone steal against the head for the United States. That is a perfect start for them and a gut-punch for Bruce Mouat's men.

Time to get back in the saddle.

  14. GB slip behind, but by how much?published at 12:33 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2022

Semi-final: USA 0-0 Great Britain (after one end)

    Argh!

Bruce Mouat's final stone is a touch overcooked.

The United States sweep furiously as it passes the T line.

The Americans have certainly stolen two points here.

Could it actually be three? The judges tape measure is being unfurled to check.

  16. US still on top in second endpublished at 12:29 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2022

Semi-final: USA 0-0 Great Britain (after one end)

Bruce Mouat has a long, lingering look at the situation as he prepares for his first stone of the second end.

The Great Britain skip is struggling to hold back the tide of quality red play though.

The United States are lying two with a final stone each to go.

Don't be distracted by your opponents, they are the defending champions, they've got a lot of big talkers.

This is going to get tense. Buckle in.
