Swindon Robins rider Simon Stead will return to action against former club Belle Vue on Thursday.

Stead has been sidelined for nearly two months with a serious rib injury.

"It's been a nightmare for me so far this season and the team have done well to keep things ticking over with all the problems we have had," he said.

"I'm just desperate to get going and want to pile up the points, especially after I was overlooked for a wildcard in the British Final."

Robins lost their opening seven games in the Elite League but have turned their results around and are looking to make it three victories on the bounce against Belle Vue.

Stead added: "We're a good team and I really hope we can go on a good run. There is still time for us to stage a big push for a play-off place and that has to be the aim of everyone at the club."
