Wayne Kirwin and Chris Palmer claim Manx GP victories

Wayne Kirwan recorded second place finishes in both the Junior and Senior Manx Grand Prix races in 2010

Wayne Kirwan claimed a thrilling first victory in the Junior Manx Grand Prix in the Isle of Man on Tuesday.

The racer from the Republic of Ireland claimed a 26-second victory over Mike Minns with Stephen McKnight third.

Meanwhile, the winner of Saturday's Lightweight Newcomer's race James Cowton claimed an impressive fourth.

Pre-race favourite and fastest qualifier Jamie Coward was reported off at Laurel Bank on the opening lap.

Earlier in the day, Castletown's Chris Palmer won his third Manx Grand Prix title in the 350cc Classic race with Tamworth-based Peter Symes winning the concurrently run 250cc race.

Racing will continue on the Mountain Course on Wednesday with the 500cc Classic Grand Prix/Formula Classic race followed by the SuperTwin/Lightweight Grand Prix.
