Valerien Ismael is forced into one change for Blackburn. An ankle injury to Sondre Tronstad means Taylor Gardner-Hickman returns to the Rovers side after serving his suspension.

George Pratt, who made his debut against Preston North End on Friday night, keeps his place in the side.

There are three alterations for QPR. Fresh from his return from injury Jake Clarke-Salter is left out of the squad as he is phased back with Rhys Norrington-Davies and Richard Kone dropping to the bench.

Steve Cook, Sam Field and Koki Saito are the trio that come into Julien Stephan's starting XI.

Millwall are without Zak Sturge (concussion) and the injured Derek Mazou-Sacko while Dan McNamara and Macaulay Langstaff are warming the bench.

Captain Jake Cooper is back from suspension with Camiel Neghli, Aidomo Emakhu and Luke Cundle also starting.

Henrik Pedersen makes three changes to his Sheffield Wednesday side from the one beaten by city rivals, United on Sunday.

Liam Palmer and Jamal Lowe drop to the bench while there's no place for Ike Ugbo.

Into the side come Liam Cooper for his full debut, Charlie McNeil and Bailey Cadamarteri.

Wrexham, who have only scored once in their past three matches, make a double change up front as Nathan Broadhead and Kieffer Moore replace Josh Windass and Sam Smith.

Bristol City bring in three new faces from the 3-0 win over Swansea with Mark Sykes, Yu Hirakawa and Haydon Roberts all starting.

Portsmouth owner Michael Eisner says the English football pyramid is a "financial disaster" for clubs at Championship level - but says the introduction of an independent regulator offers hope "extraordinary losses" will be a thing of the past.

The 83-year-old American billionaire and former Disney chief executive completed a takeover of Pompey in 2017 but, in rare public comments, has said running a Championship club is a "very difficult business".

Eisner said a restructure of the media rights arrangement between the English Football League (EFL) and Premier League was cause for hope for Championship clubs in the next 18 months.

Coventry City moved 10 points clear at the top of the Championship with their 4-2 win at Middlesbrough last night.

Valerien Ismael has spoken about how a successful academy system is key to the identity of Blackburn Rovers as youngsters are given opportunities due to a string of injuries at Ewood Park.

Sondre Tronstad is the latest key player for Blackburn to be ruled out of action but Ismael has pointed at a string of recent debutants from the academy as a positive sign for the club.

"I think it's the way for this club, before I signed we had a discussion, it was all about creating a pathway for the young players from day one. So, we made it already with three players who have made their debut with Nick Michalski, Kristi Montgomery and George Pratt now, which is good.

"I think it gives identity for the club, for the fans to give support to the young players that are able to perform and then for us to work with them,

"At the minute it's really good to have that possibility to give the players a chance to perform."

The Championship table is tight-as-ever with just four points separating 16th-placed QPR from the play-off places.

Tonight's hosts Blackburn Rovers will be in high spirits after a win against Lancashire rivals Preston at the weekend - their fourth win in their past five league games. Another tonight would see Valerien Ismael's side leapfrog the visitors on goal difference.

Rovers have won 10 of the past 15 league meetings between the sides while Ismael has won five of his six league games against QPR in total, including all three at home by an aggregate score of 9-1.

QPR can take some optimism from the fact only Sheffield Wednesday and Norwich have lost more home league games than Blackburn (5) in the Championship this season, with Rovers’ only home win coming against Southampton last month. Having conceded nine goals in their first two away league games this season, QPR have conceded just four in their subsequent six on the road.

Sheffield United and Portsmouth - two struggling sides in desperate need of a victory at the weekend - and both pulled it off.

The Blades thumped their biggest rivals Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough, while Pompey ended a six-game winless run with a 3-1 victory against Millwall.

But Portsmouth have not won on the road since the opening day of the campaign, form that has left them 19th in the table.

Sheffield United, three places below them, would move out of the drop zone with victory... a huge game at Bramall Lane awaits.

An Englishman's home is his castle or, if you're Millwall, a Lion's Den is his, well, castle as well I guess.

Having lost three of their opening four games at home this season, Alex Neil's side have found their mojo in SE16 with an unbeaten run of four, including three victories.

Given they have lost their past two road trips, it is probably just as well.

Saturday's away defeat at Portsmouth also cost them Zak Sturge (concussion) and Derek Mazou-Sacko (injury) while Joe Bryan's red card at Fratton Park means he's suspended.

It seems things might be stacking up against Millwall although it could be worse, they could be Sheffield Wednesday.

The Owls are 19 points short of safety, mainly thanks to their deduction for entering administration.

While bidders make their offers for the club, boss Henrik Pedersen must at least keep them competitive and those looking for hope tonight, along with Millwall's selection woes, can also be encouraged by Wednesday having more points on the road than at home.

Lions and Owls both like to prey but who will be the victim tonight?

Tonight's match here at the Stok Cae Ras pits two sides with lofty ambitions against one another.

But it's a tough one to call given certain aspects of the form of both teams.

Wrexham are unbeaten in five league matches at home and have won their last three here in the Championship.

As for the Robins, they have lost just once in seven league games away from Ashton Gate so far this term and are averaging more points per game on the road than on their own patch.

This may be a first meeting between these two sides in 20 years - but Wrexham fans might want to look away now.

The Welsh side have not beaten Bristol City in the past 11 fixtures, losing nine of them.

Wrexham have finally found their feet in the Championship and are on a six-game unbeaten run, while the Robins' form of late has been inconsistent.

Just four points separate the hosts, in 15th, and Bristol City, in sixth.

A win this evening and Wrexham will be on the cusp of the play-off places.

Bristol City would climb to fourth with three points.

Coventry now hold a 10-point lead at the top after their sensational 4-2 win at Middlesbrough last night.

A win for Bristol City at Wrexham tonight would move them up to fourth place but if they don't claim all three points Millwall can go fourth themselves if they beat Sheffield Wednesday while Birmingham City can jump into the top six with a derby victory at West Brom.

Sheffield United have the chance to move out of the relegation zone for the first time this season if they beat Portsmouth.
