TT 2014: Bruce Anstey tops 130mph in TT practice

New Zealand's Bruce Anstey continued to set a blistering pace to top the timesheets for a second consecutive night at the Isle of Man TT on Tuesday.

The Padgett's Honda rider became the first man to post a 130mph lap at this year's event to top the Superbike charts in near perfect conditions.

His quickest lap of 130.86mph came on his second lap of the session on the CBR1000RR Fireblade.

John McGuinness was second quickest with a lap of 129.395 mph.

Anstey said: "The bike feels really good, we've a new engine this year and it's strong. My bike was just as fast as Michael Dunlop's BMW so I am pleased."

Last year's four-time winner Michael Dunlop looked on track for a 130mph lap on his second lap before running out of fuel at Governor's Dip.

The BMW racer had opened the session with a lap of 129.032mph.

Tyco Suzuki's Guy Martin went third quickest behind Anstey and McGuinness with a lap of 129.164mph.

Michael Rutter and the Isle of Man's Conor Cummins both topped 128mph on their respective Superbikes.

The top 20 riders all posted laps of over 120mph with quickest newcomer Peter Hickman narrowly missing out on joining the club at 119.684mph.

Meanwhile, James Hiller topped the Superstock timesheets at 126.243mph ahead of Michael Dunlop and Michael Rutter.

Northern Ireland's Lee Johnston leads the Supersport times on his East Coast Honda at 123.803mph and Ivan Lintin topped the Lightweight times at 117.297mph.

The sidecar session was red-flagged after one-lap after an incident at Kerrowmoar involving Nev Jones and Milan Vorel.

Vorel was taken by air ambulance to Nobles where he was assessed for possible leg fractures and Jones was reported to be OK.

John Holden and Andy Winkle posted the night's fastest sidecar time of 112.877mph.
