England fell to a surprise 39-37 defeat to South Africa in the Tri-Series final in Port Elizabeth.

Having beaten their opponents 49-39 on Wednesday, England were favourites to add to a 3-0 series win in September.

They edged the first half 19-18 and opened up a four-goal lead in the third quarter, but South Africa hit back to lead 31-30 going into the final period.

That advantage had become 38-34 with five minutes remaining and South Africa held off a late England charge.
