Alastair Seeley took a win and a second place at the sixth round of the British Supersport series at Brands Hatch.

The Gearlink Kawasaki rider from Carrickfergus was runner-up to Stuart Easton in the 10-lap sprint race but took victory in the second event.

Seeley leads the championship by 40 points from Mar-Train Yamaha's Easton, who was a close second in race two.

Keith Farmer was eighth and 10th in the Superbike races and lies 10th in the overall standings with 64 points.

Tyco TAS Suzuki rider Josh Brookes won race one and Shane Byrne race two, leaving Byrne to head the championship on 232 points, with Alex Lowes second on 211 and Brookes third with 210.

Seeley saw off Easton by just four thousandths of a second in the second Supersport joust, after what he described as "an awesome race".

"The bike was working great, I just chipped away and never gave up," said Seeley.

Glenn Irwin took 14th in race one and failed to finish race two, but is eighth in the championship ahead of the next round at Oulton Park on 11 August.

Meanwhile Castlerock man Marty Nutt assumes the lead of the Ducati 848 Challenge after clinching a win and a second position at Brands.

Nutt leads Jonathan Railton by just one point, 162 to 161.
