Maghery earn first Armagh title as Slaughtneil & Cargin win in Derry & Antrim

Maghery won their first ever Armagh Senior Football title as they beat Crossmaglen's conquerors Cullyhanna 1-13 to 0-13 at the Athletic Grounds.

Ciaran Higgins' goal early in the second half was the crucial score.

Slaughtneil and Cargin retained the Derry and Antrim football titles after dominant wins over Loup and St Gall's.

Michael Murphy hit 1-5 as Glenswilly edged out Kilcar 1-10 to 0-12 in the Donegal final but the Tyrone and Cavan final replays were both postponed.

Healy Park and Breffni Park were both severely waterlogged and the Tyrone replay between Coalisland and Killyclogher has been rescheduled for Friday night at 19:30 BST with the Cavan rematch between Castlerahan and Ramor United taking place next Sunday.

Six Aidan Nugent points helped Cullyhanna lead 0-7 to 0-6 at half-time in the Armagh final but after extending their advantage to 0-9 to 0-7, the St Patrick's outfit were suddenly behind when Higgins netted after a fine ball by Aidan Forker.

Cullyhanna couldn't get closer than three points in the closing 15 minutes as Maghery held on.

Cargin retained the Antrim title as Tomas McCann's early goal helped them beat St Gall's 1-10 to 0-6 while Slaughtneil clinched a third straight Derry Football title as they defeated Loup 2-12 to 0-6 at Celtic Park.

In the Antrim decider, helped by a strong breeze in the first half, Cargin moved into a 1-9 to 0-2 lead by half-time after McCann had netted in the sixth minute with Ryan McKernan, Ciaran Close, Michael Magill and Donagh McKeever also on target for the Toomebridge side.

St Gall's failed to make any significant inroads on Cargin's lead in the third quarter and the outcome was assured long before the final whistle at Corrigan Park.

Brothers Shane and Se McGuigan hit Slaughtneil's goals as their 1-6 to 0-3 lead at half-time was extended in the second period at Celtic Park.

The Donegal decider was something of a scoring duel between intercounty team-mates Murphy and Paddy McBrearty.

Michael Murphy finished on 1-5 after hitting Glenswilly's goal in the 11th minute with McBrearty notching 0-6 for Kilcar.

After trailing 1-7 to 0-6 at half-time, Kilcar hit three straight points to cut the deficit to the minimum but they could not get on terms in the final 25 minutes of action as scores from Ciaran Bonner, Murphy and Ciaran Gibbons proved enough for Glenswilly.

Murphy also helped Glenswilly lift the title in 2011 and 2013.
