Great Britain's women lost 37-16 to Beijing silver medallists Russia and are bottom of Group A after two games.

After going 2-0 down early on, GB restored hope through a Marie Gerbron brace, but the Russians pulled away to lead 17-8 at half-time.

All of Russia's outfield players went on to register a goal as the four-time world champions eased to victory.

Despite the scoreline, GB's Lyn Byl managed to finish as joint-top scorer with five, level with three Russians.

Following their opening defeat by Montenegro, Britain now have three games remaining to gain a top-four position in the group and a place in the quarter-finals.

Elsewhere in the group, Brazil edged to a 27-25 win over Montenegro, and Croatia beat Angola 28-23.

South Korea moved to the top of Group B with a 25-24 defeat of Denmark, while France overcame reigning champions Norway 24-23.
