Stuart McCloskey hasn't had as many opportunities in an Ireland jersey as he would have liked in his career.

Did he stake a claim to keep the staring spot at centre for the rest of the autumn series?

To be clear, Wallace Sititi is kicking the ball in that photo and he didn't give Caelan Doris the full Bishop Brennan treatment.

Ireland fans probably feel a bit like Caelan Doris after that defeat. Sore.

New Zealand's Ardie Savea, speaking to TNT Sports: "It's cool to be here in Chicago and it's always good to come out with the win. We're happy with that and we give credit to the Irish, but we're stoked with the win.

On making amends for 2016: "That was nine years ago but it is nice to come here and rectify that. We'll enjoy tonight and celebrate the win."

On the half-time team talk: "We couldn't get things going and it's credit to the Irish team for putting pressure on us. But once we started to get our flow things started to go our way. We'll look at the first half but overall we're happy."

Ireland will have to get over this one pretty quick with games against Japan, Australia and South Africa to come.

Conor Murray and Gavin Andrews will be recording the Ireland Rugby Social podcast after the game and they want to hear from you!

Was it a fair result? Do the big games make Conor miss rugby? What did Murray think of Beirne's red?

  9. 'A bitter pill to swallow'published at 22:24 GMT

    FT: Ireland 13-26 New Zealand

Ireland captain Dan Sheehan, speaking to TNT Sports: "It's a bitter pill to swallow. To be honest, I don't think we really got going. We saw very small patches of what we were looking for but we couldn't put the whole picture together."

"I thought we were operating about 80% coming into that half-time period. We looked to get a bit extra going into that second half. At times we did but there was a lot of inaccuracies at the breakdown and with discipline, so there's a lot to work on. Hopefully we can bounce back next week and turn it around."

On if Ireland felt undercooked: "No, we said going in that we weren't going to use that as an excuse and our training the last two weeks has been physical and been good. We thought we were in a good spot but things didn't click for us today and we'll have to have an honest review of that."

It's the moment you have all been waiting for as Scott Barrett, wearing one of the biggest coats I've ever seen after his early exit from the game, lifts the Gallagher Cup!

I'll be honest, it's rather subdued. But there are plenty of smiles within the New Zealand camp after that one.

Goes to prove that you can be 20 points up with 10 minutes to go when playing the All Blacks and you haven’t won yet.

    Peter, Weybridge

NZ fan here - can we talk about how poor the officiating was? When we’re trying to promote the game in the USA, we’re not doing ourselves any favours with the stop-start tempo, and slow pace. It was worse than watching American Football.

    Callum, Scotland

This game shows Ireland are giving the impression they are a busted flush! They peaked before the last World Cup and it has been a downward spiral since then.

    FT: Ireland 13-26 New Zealand

Fabian Holland, player of the match, speaking to TNT Sports: "It was a massive game for us. Credit to Ireland, they are a quality side and we are stoked to get the win. Credit to our boys, they were awesome".

On motivations from 2016: "Yeah, it was massive. We knew what that meant to Irish rugby and we just wanted to make a statement at the start of this tour. Hopefully we were able to do that. We talked all week about backing each other up and that's what we did."

New Zealand came into their own last 25 minutes and for Ireland, the sloppiness kicked in. The penalty count was high and the line-out needs work.

The scoreline I don't think reflects the match.

It felt New Zealand had their number.

It's so nearly worth the wait as New Zealand rip Ireland open with a flowing move and Leicester Fainga'anuku thinks he has scored a cracker, but there's a forward pass and that will be that.
