Rowing World Cup: Great Britain set to resume Germany rivalry

World champions Great Britain will resume their rivalry with Germany in the men's eight final at the last World Cup regatta of the year on Sunday.

Olympic and European champions Germany will be looking to avenge defeat by Britain in the final of the Grand Challenge Cup at Henley last Sunday.

Britain's Helen Glover and Heather Stanning are in the women's pair final.

The Olympic, world and European champions secured a 26th straight win in Saturday's semi-final in Lucerne.

New Zealand, who won last year's World Cup, are expected to be their closest challengers.

Britain's European champions Charlotte Taylor and Kat Copeland reached the final of the lightweight women's double sculls, but Olympic champion Katherine Grainger and Vicky Thornley could only finish fifth in the double sculls and will compete in Sunday's B-final.

There are three World Cup regattas each year, and the nation to have accumulated the most points after the final event is declared the winner.

Britain were victorious six times in seven years between 2007 and 2013, which was their last win.
