Salford City Reds have announced the departure of chief executive David Tarry due to redundancy.

Tarry worked for the club for almost three decades and oversaw their move to a new stadium, external earlier this year.

"I have enjoyed my time with the club immensely and wish them nothing but success both on and off the field," Tarry told the club website.

Chairman John Wilkinson added: "We are thankful for his efforts. We wish him well in the next stage of his career."

Meanwhile, Phil Veivers has criticised Salford's attitude and lack of enthusiasm after a late collapse saw them lose 34-30 to Castleford Tigers on Sunday.

"It was a really disgusting game," Veivers told BBC Radio Manchester.

"We didn't turn up. We came up with error upon error and gifted them some easy points. We came with the wrong attitude and I've told them that."

Salford had bad attitude - Veivers

The Reds went into the game having beaten Huddersfield Giants and Catalan Dragons in their previous two matches, but could not reproduce their recent form against a team two places below them in the Super League table.

"They just tend to do that against sides that are down there with us," added Veivers. "They seem to lower their performance and they've done it again here.

"I thought we had a pretty harsh call on a forward pass against Matty Ashurst. I thought it was a try and that would have put us 14 points in front.

"But even eight points up with six minutes to go, you should be able to defend that and hold them out and we didn't. I'm a pretty angry man at the moment."
