Head coach Shaun Wane has said he is fully committed to Wigan but has admitted he would love a chance to work in Australia's NRL later in his career.

Wane is in his second year in charge at the DW Stadium and has guided the Warriors to the top of Super League.

The 48-year-old told BBC Radio Manchester: "I love the game and my club. I'm a very proud Wigan lad.

"But it's a different competition with different challenges in a different country and I want to test myself."

He continued: "I work hard at my job and I want to be the best I can be. The challenge of going over there excites me and, who knows, one day it might come off."

But Wane, who has been linked with a role at New Zealand Warriors, has ruled out a move in the immediate future, adding: "The fact is that I'm in my dream job in this country and I'm loving it.

"I have a great group of staff with me at Wigan. It's nice to be spoken about but I'm the Wigan Warriors coach and it's a fantastic job that I have. I'm really happy where I am.

"It's not all about results for the first team. I have a vision of where I want to take the club and it's not going to happen overnight.

And there is constant speculation surrounding the future of full-back Sam Tomkins, who has long been linked with a switch to the NRL or rugby union.

Wigan, who are three points clear at the top of Super League, travel to Hull KR for a Challenge Cup fifth-round tie on Sunday.

Wane's side inflicted a club record 84-6 defeat on Rovers last month, but he said: "It's a big game and there will be a lot of pressure.

"I'm taking no notice of what happened a few weeks ago. Hull KR are a good team, they can play and I won't be underestimating them."
