Wigan Warriors coach Shaun Wane believes a mid-season training camp with rugby union side Bath will prove to be beneficial to both clubs.

With Wigan not involved in Saturday's Challenge Cup final at Wembley, Wane's side headed to the south west to train with the Premiership outfit.

"There are areas that we can copy and improve," he told BBC Radio Manchester.

"The recovery facilities and how they look after players from a nutritional point of view are the two main things."

Wane, who guided Wigan to a Super League and Challenge Cup double in 2013, continued: "On the field, we did a lot of our attack and they tried to copy what we were doing.

"They learned a lot from us and we learned a lot off the field about what we can do within our budget. It's been worthwhile doing and I'm glad we did it."

Wigan are one of six clubs still in contention to win the League Leaders' Shield with three matches of the regular season remaining.

The Warriors lie second, three points behind leaders St Helens.

They could welcome back hooker Michael McIlorum (broken arm) and centre Iain Thornley (torn pectoral muscle) from long-term injuries when they travel to Widnes Vikings on Friday.
