Kyle Amor: St Helens prop ready for Super League play-offs

St Helens forward Kyle Amor says the Super League play-off semi-final against Catalans will be the biggest match he has played in rugby league.

Amor joined Saints this year from Wakefield and it will be the first time he has featured in the latter stages of the play-offs.

The 27-year-old scored as Saints beat Castleford 41-0 to reach the last four.

"It's something I've not done before, so personally it's probably the biggest 80 minutes of my career," he said.

He told BBC Radio Merseyside: "I was at Wakefield and we got one taste of the play-offs but we were only in for one week; so in terms of experience in the play-offs I'm still only a pup.

"To get to a Grand Final would be something tremendous.

"You come to big clubs to play in big games and to ultimately win trophies, so these games are the types you want to be tested for."

Nathan Brown's side come into the game having had an extra week off, something that Saints assistant coach Keiron Cunningham described as a "luxury."

The Dragons' visit to Langtree Park on Thursday will be their third match in a row away from home, but they have won impressively at Leeds and then Huddersfield to get to within one game of a first ever Grand Final.

"There's no doubt that a third flight in a row is tough, and deep down in the back of their mind they know that is tough," said Brown.

"Us having the week off is definitely an advantage, but none of those things work in your favour if you don't play well.

"We don't need to worry about what sort of state Catalans are in, all we're concerned about is getting our house in order and doing what we can do well."

Saints are looking to reach their first Grand Final since 2011, having not won the competition since 2006.

After winning 19 of the 27 matches during the regular season, St Helens secured their fifth League Leaders' Shield.

Laurent Frayssinous' Catalans, meanwhile, finished seventh, but Brown is not surprised to see them competing with the best teams in the competition.

"It's quite simple in this game", continued the 41-year-old Australian. "If you've got the club's that are spending around near the salary cap, and their best players are fit, they've generally got good players.

"Catalans have had a good squad ever since I've been here.

"What they're getting the reward for, Catalans, is the chairman is getting a reward for supporting the coach because we all knew as soon as they got their players back, they'd be hard to beat.

"If they'd had sacked their coach because they struggled they would not be where they are today. "
