Leeds Rhinos have signed prop Mitch Garbutt from NRL side Brisbane Broncos on a two-and-a-half-year contract.

Garbutt, 26, has been granted an immediate release by Brisbane and will join the Leeds squad on Saturday.

The Australian signed for Brisbane from NRL rivals Melbourne Storm on a two-year deal in July 2014.

"I think the style of the game in Super League will complement my natural game. Hopefully I can contribute to the team in any way I can," he said.

"The Rhinos are such a successful side with a mix of youth and experience and this is a great opportunity to kick on with my own career."
