Robert Lui scored 10 points after missing his first three conversions

Salford scored 18 unanswered second-half points to beat lowly Widnes and seal a first Super League win in six.

Kris Welham went over twice for Salford before being sin-binned, with converted tries from Tom Gilmore and Patrick Ah Van giving Widnes a half-time lead.

Tries from Jake Bibby and debutant Greg Burke, against his old club, helped the hosts go 20-12 ahead on 67 minutes.

Widnes had Chris Houston red-carded for dissent, with Rob Lui running 60 metres for a fourth Salford score late on.

It is the first time the Vikings, bottom of the table, have lost 10 straight league games for 68 years, while the home side moved six points ahead of them.

Houston was sent to the sin-bin for a challenge on Burke but was then dismissed for sarcastically applauding the referee.

The visitors, under interim head coach Francis Cummins, lost Stefan Marsh in the warm-up, with academy graduate Dan Norman making his debut.
