Super League: Hull FC 18-26 Castleford Tigers

Castleford's Michael Shenton scored two tries to help inflict a 13th Super League defeat in a row on Hull FC.

Skipper Shenton and Jesse Sene-Lefao crossed early for the visitors but scores from the returning Joe Westerman and Jake Connor moved Hull 12-10 ahead.

A second for Shenton gave Cas a half-time lead, with James Clare and Junior Moors scoring to put them 12 points up.

Jamie Shaul's break allowed Jordan Lane to go over for Hull with 20 minutes left but their losing streak continues.

After the match Hull boss Lee Radford confirmed winger Matty Dawson-Jones will miss the rest of the season after suffering a cruciate knee injury in training on Wednesday.

The hosts had three tries ruled out at the KCOM Stadium as they attempted in vain to make up for their opening-day defeat by city rivals Hull KR.

Westerman made a successful comeback from a knee injury and but Hull have to go back to June for their last Super League win, having ended the 2018 campaign with 11 consecutive losses.

At one stage it appeared Castleford's Paul McShane would rue his three missed conversions, but they saw out the game comfortably to make it two wins from two.

Castleford coach Daryl Powell:

"We showed a lot of character and there was a fair bit of spirit out there.

"Our decision-making with the ball wasn't great and put us under a bit of pressure.

"It's early in the season and we've won two games. We've had to dig deep to keep the two teams we've played out and we've done that pretty well."

Hull coach Lee Radford:

"My feelings are similar to last week. We had enough opportunities to score and we just need to snag a win from somewhere.

"I hope our luck turns soon and the bounce of the ball goes our way. It's really fine lines, there is absolutely nothing in it.

"The fans appreciate when you are having a dig and I think we'll get better when blokes start coming back. The more we can get back the better."
